What I mean by independent leg movement is that turning does not drag the torso along with the legs as they turn. Many times I have been frustrated when, during a fight, I end up trying to change direction (with the legs) while tracking an enemy to fire (with the torso), and the torso movement throws my aim off. This is exacerbated by the fact that the leg movement is digital, i.e my keyboard, without any fine control, and also because the leg turning rate can overwhelm the ability of the torso twist speed to compensate, so that the best I can do while turning is struggle to keep my crosshairs exactly where they are, let alone move against the direction of the turn.

This could be added as an advanced control option, something like the reverse of torso or arm lock. Something really helpful would be to establish a 15 degree range in front of the mech, where if the torso is pointing within that range the torso would twist with the legs, while outside of the range they would move independently.

If this is something that other people would be interested in, leave some feedback so it will be noticed.

I like it. I usually run big enough engines, and mechs with good enough arm movement that this isn't often a problem, however I could see it being quite annoying in a Fatlas or something else with not much wiggle in the torso.

This throws off my aim all the time, in my hunchback 4-P. Can't keep 7 lasers of the torso on a target.

I figure since they just went and added a bunch of newbie options like arm lock and pedal throttle, it would be nice if they tossed a bone to the advanced players. It wouldn't give any extra advantage to players using it, since the maximum speed at which the reticle would move is still limited by the torso twist speed. It just wouldn't subtract the leg turn rate from the torso twist when twisting in the direction opposite the leg turn. For players content to rely on visual cues for posture awareness (which way is my mech moving, minimap arrow, compass ticks), it would allow precision aiming while executing a leg turn.

This needs to become a reality. This is almost a necessary tool for precise firing while circling an enemy. Hitting the target isn't so bad, but it's difficult to be exact. This would also make it easier to maneuver in urban terrains, for the good of the game.

A joystick solves this problem.

Otherwise, yes this is an issue and an option would be nice.
