Hey there, although I'm relatively new I thought I'd share something that made me smile while playing it over the last 2 days that I've started playing this.
Gentleman/ladies I give you the lrmando 2D (commando 2D)
Upgrades
double heat sinks
endo steel structure
Weapons
medium laser
1x lrm 10 (2 tons of ammo)
or 2x lrm 5 (2 tons of ammo) either one is fine.
Loadout
left arm : one medium laser
right arm : nothing or a single lrm 5
torso : XL engine 200, LRM 10, or one lrm 5
Right torso: double heat sink
Left torso : double heat sink ECM
Right leg : lrm ammo x2
Left leg : nothing
Notes and observations
I've switched out the standard 150 engine to the 200 xl, theres also apprantly enough room to switch to ferro fibrous armor to maximize armor stats.
Playstyle
Lets face it, the commando most likely will not win a brawl when facing another light mech like the jenner, spider, unless you're running the standard 3x streak one medium laser build or 1 srm with one large laser. They are better equiped, have jump jets, and more armor. However the commando is just as fast and is equipped with 3 missile hardpoints and an ECM.
With the 200xl engine you can bolt past and flank around the enemy team, get behind them and proceed to spam lrms in their face while being relatively close by. While no catalpult you can annoy the hell out of the enemy team as you pelt them with lrms from a different angle than your main team force. This will often, from what i've observed, send people spinning around wondering why are there lrms coming from behind them. Should they spot the commando you
can just run away to find another angle to shoot from. Having that one medium laser can help you should have to actually brawl (which you shouldn't).
ASM will ruin your day somewhat but other ecm users will not bother you due to having ecm yourself.
Also Hi there, just started playing 2 days ago, so if this is just the ramblings of a newbie then I'm sorry.

I actually did something like this during closed beta, in the end I found that I was just too light to pack a big enough punch to do more then get myself in a world of trouble. At the time I found using a raven for much the same purpose worked better, at the time my PC specs couldnt handle running and gunning so being a LRMonkey was the most effective way to play then. The raven let me take a lrm15 or 20 and jump jets let me get to higher ground so I could let my missiles clear cover and bombard enemies.
These days LRMs are a little more cover friendly but the splash nerf has hurt them at the same time, still as a LRM bot you dont really need to worry all that much about speed, you just need enough to effectively get around in the background and keep your enemy lights guessing at all times because if one catches you your smoked regardless if your in a COM or RVN.

Yeah, the LRMando has been tried, and tried again. It's good for a few laughs, but not much else.
It just cannot pack enough throw weight to do any substantial damage - it didn't back when LRMs were good, and it certainly doesn't now.
If you're just looking for harassment, a single LRM-5 may be just as (in)effective, and you still have some punch for when there's targets of opportunity.
XL195, 3 DHS, FF, 2xSSRM-2 (2 tons ammo), 1xLRM-5 (1 ton ammo), ML, and ECM should do the trick.

Here you go: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...77ba4abc439ef94. I listed all the pertinent details in my above post, but there's the link for your tweaking pleasure.
Basically, you swap one of the Streaks for a LRM-5 and a ton of ammo.
Also, I wouldn't run that build myself for anything but amusement

Good god I love this thing.
Effective? Maybe for drying up AMS.
Fun? Hell yes.
Being an unkillable invisible ammo waster while ******* off everyone from 600m out never gets old.
