First off I'd like to say as a "Free" game goes MWO by far my favorite, I have WoT, Star Conflict, War Thunder and a few others and I'd much rather play MWO. I have all of the original MW's and I played the crap out of them, MW Mercenaries was by far my favorite with Black Knight second. MWO is coming along(if albeit slowly) with every patch it looks a little better, some things are improved others not so much, so as a free game I really like MWO and there in lies the problem, as a potential paying customer PGI is a long way away from getting me to spend money on MWO. Put aside the bugs, connection issues, Buff/Nerf experiments etc, etc, PGI has so far not added anything that costs real world dollars that I would buy. I did purchase the YLW and was very disappointed, lets face it, if I spend 20, 30, 40 dollars or more on some thing in a F2P game it needs to do some thing more than earn in game credits faster and have a fancy paint job.
So this is the part of the post that's going to polarize people, I believe that if MWO is going to be successful it's going to have to be more like WoT, I would spend money on armor piercing ammo, upgraded weapons, a mech that has more crit spaces, can add more armor, flap it's freaking arms and fly, I think you get the idea. Yes this is what some people call P2W (I take issue with that term, as purchasing those items does not guarantee you a win, a slight edge yes but not an over whelming advantage) my experience with WoT has showed me that an average player is still average no matter how much they spend. I am an average player, I do not expect to be turned into a "Rock Star" if I purchased items like that, I would buy them because I liked and wanted them, they are vanity items and after all this is just a game. Instead of taking my wife out for dinner I'll buy that UAC/20 for my flying arm flapping Atlas and be King of the World. Come on PGI, make me want to spend money on MWO.

They have stated they will never make this a pay to win game.

If you're content with MW:O as a F2P, I'm not sure where the desire for PGI to implement P2W systems is coming from. You're getting a game that (you said so yourself) is enjoyable and one of the better F2P games out there. Let's not tarnish that by trying to emulate other F2P/P2W games.

Unfortunately PGI is not a charity and will need to show a profit at some point(likely sooner than later), without a steady revenue stream game development will slowly grind to a halt and as much as I would like to see MWO succeed I am not going to pay for some thing I don't see as having value to it. If PGI were say that today they are going to start charging a monthly subscription to play I would not pay as the game is nowhere near that point yet. If they were to offer some of the things I suggested I would likely buy some even at this point in the games development as I would deem them to have some value. In the future, if and when MWO becomes the game I think we are all hoping for I would certainly consider paying for the privilege of playing, until then they will have to be more creative in their efforts to separate me from my hard earned money.
