This statement although distasteful is true... And without expounding my rather inflammatory thoughts on that topic. I would like to get to the point of this topic..
The above picture is a crude depiction of what i had in mind.
Scenario :
Your Dropship was damaged and crashed on and enemy planet. Your Company has no means of communication and no transportation off of the planet. The enemy was alerted to the crash and is on their way to kill you. Your job is to stay alive and send a signal home.
Objective :
Red Team : Take Control of the Comm Tower Long enough to get a signal for help.
Blue Team : Defend the Comm tower and keep the signal from being sent.
Overview:
In the middle you see a Tan Neutral base (aka Comm Tower) which is the Primary Objective but is not up for grabs ..
The red and blue bases on the map are spawn points and are not up for grabs..
There are 4 Tan Out post (relay stations) which are up for grabs..
(they should probably be painted blue to start.)
Capture the 4 relay stations long enough to Charge the Comm Tower In order send out a message. / Defend the relay stations to keep them from being taken..
Minimal Points are awarded for killing the other team. However, this is not the primary objective.
Capture points are award to the whole red team for capturing the outposts and maintaining control. Defend points are kept by the whole Blue team for defending the relay stations..
Bonus points are awarded for completing the charge of the Com tower and sending out a signal, or successfully defending the outpost
The over all idea is that the defending team would start with 400 points..
The attacking team gets there 400 points by attacking and holding the out posts.
The defending team can get their points back by retaking the outpost.
Each mech is worth 10 points each to kill.
Capturing the comm tower is worth 400 bonus points / Defending is worth 400 bonus points.
The game is ended when either the attackers or the defender is eliminated. Base capture points are awarded as they are at time of final death + bonuses if applicable.
The game is also ended if the Comm tower is charged..
The game is ended if the timer runs out.. (should be a shorter timer)
point awards are open for discussion, and i believe i have covered enough incentives for both teams to both actively kill each other, and actively peruse the objectives. And i think there is enough of a dynamic to keep it interesting.. Maybe make it 3 bases 1 for each lance in 12 man..
