Please oh please give us a HUD only mode! The HUD is already there so all you have to do is leave it intact and let us turn off the cockpit interior. You could even adjust the FOV a little or whatever to make sure that it doesn't give any unfair advantage... shouldn't be too hard right?

Also it would be really advantageous to make the HUD elements movable. Everyone has their personal preferences for where these should be located.

Thanks!

Well should also make UI options where you can turn off the HUD and the cockpit view or have just the Cockpit view and still be able to play. That would come in handy for making Machinima movies.

Good call, the cockpit has all the info we need, it would be really cool to play using the cockpit screens with no HUD!

Lets go one further, and add a hardcore mode where you ONLY get the cockpit, no HUD :P

Since it's a SIM... I'd have to say the Cockpit should stay... But you should be able to disable your HUD at anytime since it's not a physical object like the cockpit.

I don't think we should be able to turn off the cockpit. It's part of the 'mech, and if we're playing from the perspective of the pilot it's silly that he should suddenly get X-ray vision.

I'm all for customisable hud elements and I'd like to see an option to disable the hud itself, because that does make sense.

I think external cameras is how I would like to see this dealt with. A sensor package that takes up a crit and a ton or two, and allows you to have external views from the viewpoint of the sensors. If they take a crit, then you lose that viewpoint.

I think the external camera should be displayed on the cockpits view screens. =P

Use cockpit screens for things as neccesary. Maybe introduce a "limited HUD" (as I'm sure there are still methods to recieve and display information beyond just screens as is) that is less intrusive anyway.

For the purposes of screenshots, I can't see why a an option to remove the HUD entirely is out of the question.

A "Limited HUD" doesn't really make sense in Mechwarrior. Have you seen what a nerohelmet looks like? You can't see jack out of one of those things according to canon. I was trying to hit on some middle ground above, but when it comes down to it, if people want to Wonder Woman it, then I can't think of a good justification to tell them no, other than, "I want to play with a cockpit, and the extra visibillity means you'll kick my ***." That argument is pretty weak. Sensor packages that can take criticals and become disabled seem like a good compromise.
