- Takes up 3 module slots
- Mountable on limited chassis (Command mechs specifically)

What it does:
- Allows carrying Battlemech to reveal position of all unsheltered enemy mechs to all friendlies when
(1) Battlegrid is on
(2) Carrying Mech is stationary.

- However, enemy mechs revealed solely by such means cannot be targeted. (Hence UAV will still have its uses)

- The update of enemy mech positions when Satellite Uplink is active is carried out every 5 seconds (unlike Seismic sensor - hence Seismic sensor will still be of use)

- Mech with Satellite Uplink will be revealed to the enemy team.

- Position of Enemy Mechs under significant shelters (E.G. Caves, covered tunnels) cannot be revealed in such a manner. (Seismic Sensor hence will still have uses)

- Only 1 mech may carry Satellite Uplink per team.

Thoughts? I'm prepared to get gunned down if this is OP. :)

Hm, could be interesting, if implemented right. (wouldn't want to promote "sit in one spot the whole match" gameplay)

Perhaps have it only be able to work for a set duration (say, 10-20 seconds, which would be a few updates, before it needs to recharge/cooldown/re-scramble the satellite link?), and make it not function if you're under the same kind of significant cover that would block it from working on enemy mechs (under a bridge or overhang, in a tunnel).

So that when you fire it up, if it does reveal your location to the enemy team, and they were quick to react, they could potentially get eyes on you (which could result in LRMs headed your way or worse).

In other words, if it's like something you flip on for a few updates then flip off every so often, yeah, sounds neat.

But not if it's something that promotes "park somewhere safe and out of the way the whole match and be an armchair general".

Nah we have Seismic God Mode, that is enough.

A satellite uplink is already part of the command module. But what you ask can never be. It would unbalance the game. Obviously the transport ships and satellites can already plot every mech you wouldn't need a module for it.

Sorry but its definitely OP. Perhaps only way it could be made not so OP is if its consumable and gives you a one-time sweep of the entire map (like from Battlefield 2). The blips would only last a few seconds so it would be just enough to give you an idea where they are, but not long enough to get a lock on like the UAV.

Com scan ala Starcraft - maybe, but it needs to have a balanced cooldown (every 1 minute or longer), and it would only take a snapshot of enemy locations, and only part of the map, which you choose. Permanent scan (every 5 seconds is almost permanent) for the whole map - no.
