So we have mech-specific pilot trees. but they're all identical and a bit boring.

Why not add a class-specific talent tree where you can invest point/xp earned while piloting mechs within that class, thus reinforcing/rewarding pilots who specialize within certain classes, as well as adding focus (by improving traits) within that class.

there's are also examples of a trait that would add accuracy as a bonus, but at the cost of adding a negative trait

possible example tree for light mechs (ideally each class would have role-specific traits, i.e. increased damage reduction for assaults vs increased damage output for heavies, or increased mobility for medium mechs vs firing platform stability for heavies):

Light:
Piloting:
Advanced piloting - increase turning rate 5% for all light mechs
Hot Rod - increase acceleration 5% for all light mechs
Turbocharged - increase top speed by 10%, but reduces deceleration by 10% for all light mechs
Boosted Jump Jets - increase jumpjet boost output by 10% (faster launch/agility), but reduces fuel regeneration by 10% for all light mechs

Gunnery:
Snap-shot - increased torso-twist/arm movement speed 5% for all light mechs
Rapid-fire - decrease ballistic weapon recycle time by 5% for all light mechs
Sniper - increased weapon convergence by 5% for all light mechs
Running-hot - increased energy weapon damage by 10%, but also increase heat output by 10% and weapon recycle time by 10%

Weapon Systems:
Advanced Missile Guidance - increase missile weapon accuracy by 10%, but also increase missile weapon recycle time by 10% for all light mechs
Advanced Ballistics - Increase ballistics projectile speed by 10%, but also increase recycle time by 10% for all light mechs

As you can see from above, my suggestions are for traits that help pilots specialize their mech class traits to more closely match their role/playstyles. drawbacks are included to avoid any single trait being the all-powerful trait that everyone always takes as well balancing the overall "increase" impact on game balance by being a net-zero by including the negative. I.E. someone who increases their weapon damage (affecting burst dps) doesn't change their overall dps because their fire rate/heat efficiency has gone down.

this will add much needed variety to the current gameplay.
