For real. 8R, 8T, and 9M Mastered, they just arent worth playing. Why bring an Awesome to do what the Stalker and Highlander do better in every way? More armor, more guns, more heatsinks, same speed (whoa 1.6kph difference!). Tried a million different builds. Some work, sometimes. More often than not you'll get outgunned and smoked out.

I plan on finally putting mine to rest and rolling a Stalker or Highlander until something special comes their way.

I know what I'm doing, I'm a good pilot, I know my mech, and I'll tell anyone interested in buying an Awesome to not do it. Roll something viable. Maybe PGI will understand that giving a few quirk bonuses and a blatantly ****** AWS 8V clone (The Dumpster Baby) isnt going to make rolling an Awesome worth it.

Oh, and the Victor. Final nail in the AWS chassis coffin. Peace out, fatbro. It's been real.

builds, for the record.

(good luck running an XL and getting killed in 2 alpha strikes)

You completed the hard part of this game by realising its not always your teams fault. Keep on the good road.

LOL, I remember when you got your PB and were so in love with it. It's amazing what a difference a few months can make.

Never bought the Dumpster Baby, but yeah. I was all about my Awesomes up until a few days ago, when I realized I was just gimping myself and my team by playing one.

Only way I run awesomes is with XLs my KDR is like 3.2

well I only have stats for the 80kph 9M I havent touched the others in ages

that being said

it is a noob trap and completely outclassed by every other assault.

if it was about half as fat it would be a good chassis

Yeah, I agree. I only got into them when I heard they were underrepresented and underpowered, I wanted to prove people wrong. And I have, at times. I've had some really great games in all 3 with good match scores and high damage. For me at the end of the day, it just cant keep up with the big boys on a consistent basis.

Oh, maybe it was the 8R SRM build then. Anyways, the PB isn't too bad, for an Awesome anyway. It's my favorite AWS.

aside from the hit registration, i'm having good results even this patch!

over 500 dmg in MOST of my 8r matches.

the one thing i HAD to do though was get seismic sensor, immediately. and i'm close to advanced seismic, which i suspect i will
need to use on 8t which is now a bit more fragile than the others

also, AMS is a MUST

i can confirm this, both LPL and PPC are better for this reason, staring 2 full sec is death

agreed there is only one choice

it is easy to build a 9m

that runs 80kph

and carries

3ppc
3streaks

I'll have to tweak this build to use the new BAP

there is no other viable AWS build in my experience

(ever since they nerfed SRMs through the floor that is)

Try swapping the streaks for LRM5's. It's only another 1.5T, you will probably get more use out of them in the long run.

I put them on my AWS-8V and started enjoying it a hell of a lot more than before with streaks.

Large lasers are usable, I think the bigger problem is that its a 9m only running at 72.4kph while most 9ms I see are running at the max of 85.8kph. 13kph is a big thing when it comes to the assault class.

Best engines for 9M - 360XL, 380XL, 360 STD [for brawl]

2 LLs or 2 PPCs in the torso slots is ok, in fact its best thing u can do there, but don't stick another in arm.

Make more balanced 9M build and practice, maintain good speed and good heat control, overlap your ranges and use multiple weapon systems and play multiple roles. You want to be in 400-500 meters flanking but unfocused, or getting in quick using angles from Seismic or fight momentum, or to soak damage in vanguard situations by good gorilla swing action.

Either you make a balanced build, or you go with MLs and a fast STD for brawling [which is obviously going to be hit or miss depending on composition of teams, map, etc]. I find a balanced 9M to be one of the best solo or casual mechs in the game at the moment, for serious. Try something like 2 PPC or 2 LL in torsos, tag or ML in head, LPL (or ERPPC if using LL in torsos), LRM5s in chest [scouting for ams over hills, suppression, etc] or SRMs when they get flight path more reliable, and a streak in other arm.

The hardest thing to do in an Awesome is learn to shield correctly, I can't stress that enough. For practice, take out an awful build with only 2 MLs and practice just correctly soaking damage and not doing damage. It will help you learn discipline, anticipation, and correct positioning. The Awesome is a big mech so you have to be precise - like someone said earlier today in an Awesome thread, the side profile is very thing but the front is very wide. Learn to get that thin profile. Not 'almost' thin. Thin. Do it.

The 8R missile boat is the only good Awesome.

Here is my build
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3a7a05d4a90fc66

Point of this mech... shoot a steady stream of LRMs to pin targets so your teammates can engage them and they can't manuver (unless they want to start eating LRM 15s every few seconds) .

You have enough missiles to sustain a stagger fire of an LRM15 every 2 seconds for a LONG time. (about 5 minutes). It's hard to run out of missiles, but let's say if you have more than 500ish ammo left at the end of the round, you are not doing it right. (pin targets into cover by shooting a continous barage, and dont be mad that you wont kill people once your rating gets high enough)

You'll note the lack of Artemis and Tag.
You'll be dead before the missiles land if you show your face against good players when you use these things, artemis reduces your LRM ammo by too much, and 3 MLs are barely adequate to shoot up scouts that get to you... 2 is not enough to stay alive when this happens.

You are right though, the other variants are complete crap, and I've given feedback on why they are crap many times...

This guy is right, partly.

I have only 2 right now, the 9m( dont really like it yet, but going to mess with it more later) and the lesser seen 8v. my 8V has 3 LRM15 +artemis. The missiles on an awesome come out in one giant blob, even from 3 LRM15's when you have artemis equipped. People say Stalker or Atlas even do missile better, I disagree. People see that blob of missiles, and know they need to hide, but they dont take it seriously or realize it is an LRM45 blob of smash until they get hit by one. .9 dmg/missil now means every 10 missiles does 9 dmg. Poor, poor medium mechs. When you decide that lrm45 blob is too much for you, it is already too late to run and hide.
Awesome+brawl= now you die a horrid death. the awesome needs to be in the background doing support fire. A couple ML to keep lights honest is ok, but PPC's and LRM's are 1000 times better equipment then LPL and the like. Now, if you pick a 9M and go like 80kph, maybe you can get away with hit and run, but so far everything I have tried like that on mine I have felt I could do almost just as well on a hunchback, sometimes better(easier to be stealthy when you arent as tall as an atlas and twice as wide). I am going to try multi PPC on my 9M and see how that goes, right now I put 2 on and some smaller laser weapons and it does only mediocre.

TL;DR- OP, i think your brawl loadouts are misguided and play right to the weaknesses of the chassis. Loadem-up some LRM boat-i-ness and see how that goes.
