Hey guys,
Just got Dark Souls because I have a controller for my PC that I can use, and the thought occurred to me is there any way to play MWO on it?
If there is, could anyone help me with the requirements and details setting it up, I just want to try it out, any help or feedback would be much appreciated.

You are free to do what you like, but being an isometric first-order joystick (force sensing joystick generating velocity commands), an x-box controller is at a disadvantage against any zero-order controller (directly manipulates position) such as a mouse (but not limited to) since the fundamentals of the game are coded around zero-order inputs. If you go the x-box controller route howevrer, use an emulator to make it not just work, but work as well as it can.

...but I recommend reading my post on controls as they pertain to MWO before committing one direction or another.

I've been thinking about setting things up so that mouse controls torso but the left stick of my 360 pad controls legs and left trigger is throttle. Let me know how that part of your config works.
Maybe I'm weird, but I'm actually much better at tracking targets and making snap shots with a stick than with a controller. I can't make deliberate, placed shots with a controller for beans for the reasons you stated but for everything else, I'm worse with mouse.

Native 360 controller support is on the Dev list, but it is low priority last time they mentioned it.
Currently, you have to use an emulator and mess with your cfg files to get it working. There are a few threads floating around with instructions.
