7 tons for too little damage to make up for anything you may give up. Bad idea is bad.

I think the AC2 is just there to shake their screen, not up its DPS. But yeah its a lot of weight to set aside just for that.

Koreanese recommends running an AC/20 and an AC/2 in a DDC for max ballistic DPS. I've not tried it yet, but it sounds intriguing.

No such thing as fitting an AC/20 and an AC/2 in an Atlas. You've been trolled by Koreanese.

Have you actually looked at the DPS of an AC2? By raw tonnage, you could mount twin AC2 and easily out DPS an AC20 for less tonnage and crits. The AC20's advantage is it places all of that damage in one location, the AC2 has redonkulous range and generates constant screen shake.

If you hit them, over time, in the same place, etc.... Not to mention, that in order to get that DPS, you have to face your target constantly. Not a good idea these days.

Really?

No, I don't use that, but I could definitely see it at least being tried.

I used to use with gauss, for extra ROF while closing to brawl range, but I quit running my Atlases with a gauss when the started going thermonuclear on destruction.

Thank you for your Feedback.

You know it is very intersting, that there are very different variants posted in the comments here.
This supports indeed, that no one really knows the best way to make the DDC fit.

The problem I see with AC20/MediumLaser combination is, that you are screwed on Alpine, Tourmaline and on some parts of Frozen City. That is a bit frustrating.

There are ways to cut the range on every map. Alpine really depends on which side you start from. If you start from the lower base things get dicey, in my experience.

I have mine ddc with xl300, 2xERPPC, UAC5, AC5, 2xSSRM2 and LRM15. It's not fastest or strongest build, but versatile. At least in my opinion. At first I also had a brawler, but having a brawler on Tourmaline, Alpine or Canyon means that you are usless, unless you engage enemy at a very close range, and this means suicide by being melted down by concentrated ppc and laser fire.

PPC is good for long range fire support, and a UAC5/AC5 combo is capable of dealing a nice amount of damage, and it also shakes enemy cockpit a little bit. SSRMs are anti-light weapon and a close-combat small punch that goes for CT. I use LRM15 for keeping snipers heads down (when you see a missile warning, you never know how many missiles are headed towards you). This build is capable of scoring average of 400-500 dmg per match, even with my terrible aiming skills, so it should be a lot more deadly in a skilled pilot hands.

i think you guys need to PM Ryan Steel. He knows everything about DDC's. I'm pretty sure he can set you up with a very good atlas build no matter what variant. He also tried to push for 120KPH atlas but i don't think the devs agreed with his point of view.

True, that's why I packed the largest engine. That speed get you in and out of cover quick enough.

I'd try this AS7-D-DC out, it runs hot, but you can go both at range and in short range brawls.

But I prefer the D like this AS7-D the same can be done in a RS. Packs quite of a punch for mid range, then forget the PPCs (or use only one) and unleash what you have in the torsoes. It's so "switchy" I've also used it with success replacing vanilla PPCs to ER PPCs, basically you forget to have them if anything is in range for the SRMs/AC20 and meds.

Trouble is later on going around in an Atlas is like being into a giant coffin :/

These are very interesting builds posted on page 1 and 2. I would absolutely love to try them out, but I don't have enough Cbills to change to Endosteel and back again just to have a trial run with some configurations.

I think I can afford a 350 Engine for a change and have a go with it!

I still love my DDC. But... with the current love of Large alphas and long range warfare i find that my old build and tactics just don't work! I would just walk straight up to the enemy and punch them in the face... Now i would be lucky to last 10sec in the open. I have found that the best way to run my DDC and contribute to the team is to be a support mech/Rally point of the team. Lending my ECM and AMS to the main body of the team and staying alive fore as long as possible. This is starting to be how i play most of my mechs as i dislike playing anything that is the flavor of the month and giving myself a challenge. There is still a place for the DDC and other great brawling mechs, Just need to play smarter. One Mistake these days will get you torn apart in seconds by PPC and Gauss.

My current build is 2ppc 1gauss and 3 streak with AMS and ECM. ill be changing the Gauss out for 2 ultra AC5 and getting a std 350 in.

I always run a 350 engine on mine. Also did you max out your pilot tree for the speed boosts etc?

Atlases are out of favour at the moment, mostly because of the meta.

You're a huge target, and slow. Not to mention 3 X SRM6s are no longer a very scary weapon compared to 6 X PPC or 6 X LL. That and you don't have the mobility of a HL to pump out continual DPS and take cover to reduce your incoming damage.

Speed/Mobility >>>>>>> Armour. And in relation, mixed weapons + brawling <<<<<<<<< High alpha.

Strictly speaking with SRM's the way they are it is extremely hard to do damage with my Atlas anymore.

I rely upon those SRM's for so much of my firepower and without them it's just *poof*

Winning point blank fights are a thing of the past.

If they made an Atlas with arms like a Jager I would be in love. I'm so sick of blasting the F--- out of dirt and rocks insted of enemy mechs...
