I thought ELO suppose to balance by team skill, but lately all I see the winning team will have 1 or 2 people that would carry the entire team. You can usually tell by that person doing over 700 damage 2+ kills etc. I am willing to bet those guys probably carry modules and have optimized loadouts as well to maximize damage.

How is this supposed to be balanced when your team or enemy team has a very talented player that worth at least 2 average pilots?

Also HURR DURR Matchmaker

Elo averages the entire team, so it's pretty common for 1-2 players to carry a team.

Elo tries to match players based on their probability to win based on their history of wins and losses. It has nothing to do with calculating skill, although some people argue that skill can be extrapolated from elo.

If you think you can program a matchmaker better than PGI, please, demonstrate. It would be entertaining to see what kind of herp-derp back-asswards ideas you come up with.

You're supposed to play with premades. Yeah, I know, not the answer you want to hear, should be able to play all you want, yeah, I get it. It's a team-based game with team-based gameplay. ELO is a fuzzy mechanic at best. It's used in a bunch of other online games, and it's fuzzy there, too.

This could probably sound more diplomatic than it does right now, but it's Friday, it's not 4:30 yet, and there isn't a hose that brings coffee directly to my desk.

ya ELO not the best choice(in my opinion) would like to play with equal skilled ppl. ELO does avg, means norm someone is at a lower skill then u and are ment to carry some weight. i would rather wait an extra 30-60 sec for a better match. y dedicated servers are better get to see whos there and pick what u are joining. but gaming community is going away from that.

Elo is ok. The problem is rather, that the system complements high elo players with relativly low elo players, on the same team to keep the elo for the team from going too high.
That is why you see such depths of noobdom on a constant basis. There is no way to push your elo out of those people. It is not quite elo hell, but sometimes it is worse, because you try to work with a team that for the most part does not even know what that means.
Dedicated servers? You mean so you can push your stats against people you know? Or get steamrolled the whole time by the same guys? How would you implement an eight versus eight server for a game like MWO? This is not CoD on console.

PS. The system right now works like this forum, giving you the chance to spend hours with people you would not talk for even five minutes in real live.

ELO seems to work pretty well when I am playing with groups, particularly the rare occasion that there are multiple 8 man groups playing. Matches tend to be challenging and close in those instances. Same if I am playing with a 4 man and there are several other 4 mans queuing at the same time (this is usually the case during prime time). When I'm solo queuing I see more steam rolls both ways.
