I started playing this game in the beginning of this year, and I recall when hitting someone with a ppc it would throw mad sparks everywhere.
The only time you see this effect now is when you hit someone with a gauss round.
Was this done on purpose? I want the huge spark arcs back. Those looked amazing and it was soo satisfying watching an enemy explode in a shower of sparks.

Not sure, but that might be a change in your graphic settings.

Barring that, just use both PPCs and Gauss at the same time.. though PPC projectiles travel 66% faster, there are still many instances (close range and/or slow moving targets) where you can just fire them all at the same time and hit the target with all of them for massive damage and satisfying visual effects.
They're both hard-hitting weapons, and the game design encourages you to use them together anyway.

Im already always doing that. I always fire a ppc with a gauss or ac/20 shot. Its not the same effect though. The large spark arc comes from the gauss hitting not the ppc. Before ppc by themselves would throw large spark arcs as the gauss rounds do. Firing a single gauss gives the effect that ppc "used" to have.
