Since it only takes one alpha from a heavy or greater mech to completely destroy a limb, I propose the Commando can swap parts on the fly in modular fashion. Another suggestion is to give the Commando four feet and no hands so when the legs are blown off from 1000+ away the pilot can turn the mech upside down and walk on it's hands..err feet. You know what, why don't we just take off all the limbs and throw some tank treds on the Commando? That's the ticket!

These are serious suggestions because I know how seriously PGI takes them.

Doesn't matter; the only place on a commando that can possibly survive a very high alpha is the CT, and that's assuming maxed armour, all on the front.
