Thank you for the initiative of the 25 win challenge.

However, in the future, I would suggest putting the thinking cap
of your average gamer on.

What this resulted in was VERY HIGH proportion of capping games where
a 4 man light squad would just run to the cap and win by cap with
almost everyone at 0 damage, yes, zero damage, and then getting out.

So when you implement challenges like this, please bare in mind gameplay
and consider a way to FORCE players to actually play Mech WARRIOR online.

As such, I would suggest get a freebe after 25 games with at least one kill :(

Cheers!

What's wrong with capping? And by the way, the warrior part of mechwarrior refers to the pilot

OP, I totally disagree.

Now, yes, you are correct. Base rushing was definitely on the menu. But, after the first couple of matches, everyone knew this and adapted. We either posted a mech or two at base or me and a couple others were never more than 30 secs away at all times. We adapted our defense to deal with this almost guaranteed tactic.

And subsequently, the enemy now had to adapt to our strengthened defenses.

So what was the end result?

A WHOLE lot of matches that didn't fall into the same ol' game play of poptarting, hiding, following the same paths, getting stuck in the same deathzones, etc.

In other words, it changed everyone tactics. Even if it was just for a couple of nights. And every match was beautiful.

So basically you did not adapt to the strategy so you blame the game makers for thier folly of overestimating your intelligence. I think I got it.

Nothings wrong with capping, its just when both sides intentionally miss one another and run for each-others bases thats the problem.

How so? If both sides do it intentionally, then that's how they want to play the game.

I didn't have that problem.

Same, out of my ~100 games this weekend I saw only one group of dedicated cappers.

Also If you played "assault" game mode instead of your imaginary "team deathmatch", you wouldn't have a problem with cappers.

Umm... I thought this challenge was cake.

Try winning a real tourney. THAT is work. This challenge? Total breeze. It was like getting a free item without trying.

We have yet to see what a "real" tourney will look like for this game, seeing as all of the contests are for solo play only. The only tournaments that have any semblance of one are the unofficial leagues that some community members have done (RHoD for instance).
At least this challenge encouraged team play/cooperation as opposed to the "lets see how many kills you can get in a match, even if it means you lose for not playing the objectives" mindset.

If you wanted challenge, all you had to do was be a true Clanner and go solo. :(

alot of you speak in plural "we" for the majority of us playing there is no "we" communication is limited to someone scripted saying "glhf" at the beginning of the game.

Therefore "we" cannot adapt as it only means _me_ being alone back at base when the lights roll in, and by the time everyone realizes the fight is at our base and heads back, i'm dead anyway, now rinse, and repeat...

I am not complaining about the challange, its just that the game does not lend itself to teamplay being smart or actually winning is not important, damage points are, most people prefer a 3min short game, where they loose but do alot of damage in a short time.

Probably some situation where both teams go in the fight and when they make contact, both teams choose to disengage and push on the enemy base instead of seeking to exchange fire.

Actually, this is what happened to us yesterday in an 8-man. We got capped something bad when facing a full team of light/meds. The next fight we were up against the same team, this time we defended our base and it became a cat-and-mouse game where they tried drawing us off our base, or hit stragglers to get a kill. We managed to stay together and got kill advantage at 1:30, forcing them to an all out assault hoping to gain a kill to tie or win.

damn fun match. very different from the usual slugfest.

Had this happen exactly once. I was able to overcome it and became a stronger person. If need be PGI will provide grief counselors to help you through it as well.

Stay strong.
