Posted 31 May 2013 - 07:39 PM

I recently upgraded my graphics card to an AMD Radeon HD 6570 series card, and have enjoyed the increased performance in all my games, except for this one. I'm averaging around 19-29 FPS on most matches with lowest settings, or near lowest, dropping down to almost 9 on one or two (caustic valley and frozen city to be precise).

I am working with PGI support but so far I am only getting 1-3 average increase in FPS.

things I have done so far:

reinstalled game (own accord)
deleted shaders folder (per support)
run repair tool (per support)
increased game task priority (per forum post)
moved graphical performance from balanced to high quality through Catalyst control center (own accord)

I have tried to downgrade to Directx9 since the game does not support 11 right now, however the download does not seem to want to take, as I am running Directx11 and the installer knows this, saying I am running a newer or equivalent version of Directx.

attached below are segments of my DxDiag file for people to read over and make suggestions from. any advice or input is greatly appreciated, however I will not be buying a new card anytime soon.

Sorry but you have a low end GPU that does not perform better - it is slower than the old Nvidia 8800GT in some cases!

You need a better GPU if you want decent performance on this game.

You bought a low end card, and are trying to play on a very demanding engine that is tearing your card a new one.

You need to get a much better card or just stop expecting things will get better for you , because they wont.

The above posters are correct, and you can clearly see supports ineptitude in what they have asked you to do.

You simply won't get good stable frames on that low end gpu

http://www.amazon.co...p_prd_ttl_sol_4

It's a little pricey but well worth it. i just installed one into my new built rig and am now getting max 60 FPS on very high settings with V-sync turned on,75 to 85 FPS with the sync turned off..Great card and should last a couple years maybe. My old laptop that i used to play on was getting 15-20fps now sits in a corner ashamed of itself.

http://www.amazon.co...0109380&sr=1-10

Here's one for less then $200 ^^^^and should do about the same

http://www.amazon.co..._pr_product_top

Or this one for $150^^^

I think your just gonna have to shell out a little more cash for a better card..It sux but i was in the same boat.

Alright, Thanks everyone for the input and help, looks like I am just in the low end of things. when I can afford it I'll drop the money on it, but until then, I'll bite the bullet and just play as best I can.

lol

..."upgraded"

Sorry. That was mean :)

Above are right. That's really low end.

You want to be in the 78xx or Nvidia 65x ti series at the least (higher the better)

Guessing I'm in the same boat?

I have a AMD Radeon HD 7470, having the same issues as this guy but with twice the processing power... but it's no 5830.

Thanks for the feedback. Game just plays very choppy for me.

PC: 3.2 GHz, 8 Gb Ram

It's possible, but is the actual CPU

It seems to me like your gonna end up in the $100 GPU range so I'd recommend buying a used GPU off your local craigslist equivallent. Look for a deal on a 6870, 7790, gtx 470, gtx 560 ti, or gtx 650ti. You can find all of those for around $100 if you're patient.

Telling people your PC is 3.2GHZ is only part of the information needed, that's why i was inquiring it is hard to accurately ***** what the issue is with only a snippet of the relevant details.

A8-5500 is an ok chip, it's by no means a powerhouse, but should be capable of playable framerates, so in answer to your question yes, you'll need a better discrete GPU.

..."upgraded"

Sorry. That was mean ;)

Above are right. That's really low end.

You want to be in the 78xx or Nvidia 65x ti series at the least (higher the better)

Yeah, I know, but compared to what I had before, what I currently have is very much an upgrade, both in the GPU and dedicated ram department

Since it's an APU, overclock the bejesus out of your RAM if you haven't already. That'll get you a few more FPS.

Later on, upgrade to a decent GPU, the APU will be fine as a cpu since it's about as quick as a phenom ii x4 less the overclockability.

Got me an ASUS HD 7770, of course it didn't include a 4 pin to 6 pin conversion adapter so I have to wait 5 more days until that arrives now.... soon I'll be in action.

I didn't check your other system specs.

Your CPU is the bottleneck on your system.

You need to completely upgrade everything, a new video card will improve performance but you will hit a wall rather quickly. I would avoid the Phenom series processors at this point and look into the lower end FX or high end A series.

Return the video card though, start looking into a new motherboard, processor and RAM. You may need a new tower and power supply.

Right now 650ti and 7790 are the best low end gpu's correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can pick up a second hand 6870 or 560ti perhaps?

Can you install speccy from pirform and copy and paste the summary, I need motherboard specs ram etc.

I use to run this game on dual ASUS 4870 Dark Knights and got better FPS than you with much older cards, and a Q9550s CPU. I recently built a rig for my youngest son and installed a eVGA 550Ti on an old 680i with my old E8500 and noticed it was running MWO better then my rig, so I bought an ASUS HD7870 and now it's clear and runs great FPS for an older rig. The card you have is actually a truly bad card for this kind of demanding game, much worse then my old 4870's. Best rule of thumb for the simple and easy way to remember is that with amd cards HD*870's from the 6 series to the future 8 series are for gaming and the HD*970's are for really great gaming at a high cost with little gain over the HD*870's. Good luck!
