Mech still comes to a full stop when opening the map, or opening the chat bar. This problem was not in-game for me when I first joined MWO in March; but made its appearance after one of the patches. Would be nice to warn others without bringing my mech to a screeching halt- or while checking the map to gain a sense of our team's formation while on the move.

Check in the options menu. They added a throttle decay in the options so if you let go of the accelerator it'll slow down to a stop.

Its good that you found this out before I ran into you. So far I've held back, but every time I see someone using throttle decay I am overcome by the sudden urge to alpha strike them.

Myself and several friends have noticed this same problem. Specifically, this issue occurs when you use the auto run feature (Default bound to zero on numpad) in conjunction with throttle decay. The issue is intermittent and happens when you open the map (B button) or look at the status (Tab button), or chat while auto run is engaged.

Please fix, it is very annoying and undermines our ability to chat, or manage the battle.

It continues to boggle my mind that they decided to make throttle decay default to on. PGI said it was to make the game more accessible, but I'm having a hard time imagining someone who can handle independent torso and leg rotation but can't figure out how a throttle works. It's not exactly rocket science.

Granted what this game really needs is a tutorial, which I seem to recall PGI saying they're working on.

And they WILL change throttle decay and arm lock back to defaulting to off after the tutorial is out...right?

Throttle decay has nothing to do with it. I've used the plus/minus keys to set my speed and when you open the map/chat/tab your mech speed is set to stop. It is very annoying but if you set your speed with the plus/minus and wait for you mech to get to matching speed, than it seems about 70% of the time my mech will maintain speed when I use these other options.

Give it a try.

I had this occur for the first time today using Numpad 0 then trying to use chat functions. Throttle immediately zeroes out. It didn't happen prior to July 2nd patch and I've only noticed it in the 1 game so far. Gonna see if restarting client entirely is a fix.

Has nothing to do with 'Throttle Decay' which I use for WS controls since it never happened previously. Not going to argue merits of Throttle decay, seems pointless. Just pointing out that in my particular instance it is not a factor.
