I am almost absolutely positive it has been suggest before however still needs to be brought up.
We need some deeper penalties to force players to fight smarter on the battlefield AND in the mechbay.
Basically just a few ideas in no particular order. Would not fix many of the issues has have right not completely but would go a long way to making a better game.
~During overheat status there is in a 5-10% chance of a heat sink going critical every second
~A STD heat sink going critical does 3dmg to the segment it is stored in. DBL causes 7dmg.(Some small incentive to not always upgrade to doubles)
~Heat benefit of critical heat sinks obviously will no longer apply
This will curb high high energy boating builds in a few ways. First off popping off another 45% alpha while AT 96% threshold now runs the very real risk of turning your cherry mech into a walking jalopy. Even if you survive for the rest of the match your overall efficiency will be hamstrung. So you CAN technically do it to save your ***, it will come at the cost of being less then top form for the remainder of the match.
A few other ideals mixed in like heat dissipation bonuses for multiple weapon types being fired alternatively and overall less burst DPS mech configurations and we can start getting back to fun. Back to what MWO was and should be about. Beating the living hell out of other mechs with 7 different weapons on 3 different firing groups for 112 seconds before finally toppling them.
