as in title.
i have a high k/d, im often the top/2nd on my team scoreboard wise, i do a lot of damage and am a good player. why then is my win rate pretty much 50/50?

Because you are getting matched with people that have a similiar elo, so your chance to win is very close to your chance to lose.

Killing things doesn't necessarily translate to winning.

Because you are playing for your kdr. Match objectives and situations sometimes call for you to take risks or take fire. being cautious is great for your kdr, but not always for your win record.

A "kill" is actually "Got last hit on a mech", it is recorded exactly the same whether you do 100% or 1% of the damage to that mech (or its center torso, engine or however else you want to measure it).

This means your KDR is a very limited reflection of your performance unless you only take part in completely even and fair duels.
