Admit it, you have a dual gauss build :P, but on what chassis?

Well right now, i am running the CTF-4X with the following

One gauss on itch arm obviously heh
A xl 255 engine
2 medium lasers and a srm4

It works quite good, now tell me yours :)

Good discussion, have fun

Short range CTF due arms aiming
Long range Jager due arms position
Balanced plus added weapon survival CAT-K2 due torso spot/ turning. ( but not sure since i did not piloted one since closed beta and they had torso nerf)

^ What he said. Overall I'd probably lean towards the Jager, simply because of the arm positioning, plus the tendency for weapons mounted in arms that can move laterally to go LOL NOTWHEREYOUAIMED.

This is a hard question, on one hand there's the K2 with great torso movement and speed at almost 100kph with a 315XL for hit and run fun. On the other hand there's the Jag-S with an XL 255 2 gauss 2 mls and 70 rounds of gauss ammo almost max armour, you get the perfect ridge sniper.

K2 needs a pilot with his eyes open like a bunny rabbit in headlights to survive the head hunters which the CataPult Chassis seems to suffer the most, that being said dev posts indicate a revamp of the Catapults Head box-CT section.

Jag-S Suffers from slow torso twist, so snap shots like the K2 can do are never going to happen.

A hard choice indeed, probably why I have both models in my Mech bay :D.

Just throwing this out there, if you desire to run a decent standard engine with dual guass the cataphract has the extra tonnage needed to pull off a standard 250. The other two chassis pretty much mandate undersized engines or XL.

I love dual Gauss! Just wait until I can get my Mad Dog C up and running.

But right now I think the Jager is the best (heavy) Gauss sniper around. I never really liked the build in the K2 (one of my favorite mechs), choosing instead to run mine with a single Gauss and dual ERPPCs. Torso mounted weapons are just too limited, and the high weapon hardpoints are just too good to waste.

Because both mechs are the same weight I ended up using almost exactly the same build in my Gauss Jager that I used in the K2. Same armor, same speed, same loadout. There's no denying that XL engines are easier to pop in a Jager, but now that Gauss rifles explode the survivability of the K2's side torsos has been somewhat diminished. High arm mounts that can aim, shoot uphill and perhaps even safely fall off when damaged make the Jager a far better (heavy) Gauss sniper in my eyes.

I prefer the ctf's that have it in the arm/torso of the same side. It's a risk, however the closer convergence angles (it does make a difference on closer and leading a moving target shots!!) and corner trade offs (less one side hitting buildings/terrain) are worth it imo

I like the Jagermech JM6-S build personally, the Mech as a whole is very versatile in terms of it's loadout capabilities. Wait until we get Light Gauss, then things will get crazy.

Jaegermech, simply because of the superior arm positioning.

Down side of the Cataphract is its so damn ugly and wider than an oil tankers length, current game K2 is a no brainer, leave that puppy in the garage or suffer headshot after headshot.

So I guess its
Jag-S Safest overall sniper.
CFT Unknown never drove one, but wider than a barn door puts me off.
K2 but only if your feeling suicidal.

I want a dual gauss assault. With the gauss rifles in arms. this game needs to be broken.

Got 3 dual gauss builds and my personal choice is Jager S > Ilya > K2 (although I roll the most with the Ilya for C-Bill grinding).

Not a fan of torso mounted gauss but K2 is the best when you have to fight in close.

With the K2 you can safely shave off armor tons from the arms to put somewhere else. It's a very compact package of firepower that moves relatively fast. I personally survive in it way better than I seem to do in Jagers. I do get shots in the head pretty often, but actually die to headshots surprisingly rarely. Easily the most common cause of death is getting cored in the CT, followed far behind by side torso coring. Seems like at least 50% of the time even Gauss exploding (which with the small side torsos is rare itself) doesn't kill me, despite the XL engine.

To each his own, I have friends who absolutely loathe the Gausspult, while it's easily my dual gauss of choice over those wide wide CTFs and JM6s.

from plaing and desiging my own mechs in the past..there really is no best heavy/ x heavy dual ac/dual guass rifle chassis you compromise armor and weapon mixes 2 much. and you do not get that many guass rounds to feed 2 guns with.

Merman is a waste of dual Gauss, 3D does it better with JJ (though they'll be getting nerf'd for popsniping soon, still moves quicker across the field).

300XL
2 gauss
4 ML
2 JJ

Balance in armor, DHS, and maybe endo?

Although I do like the Catapult, I have to say that the Jager is the best dual gauss platform. The Cataphracts ballistics are mounted too low for my taste. The Cat K2 has descent ballistic mount locations, but for the setup to work, the engine is too small IMO. The Jager is quicker with the setup and has the ballistics mounted nice an high.

Overall, I would go dual gauss on the Jager first, then Cat, then Cataphract last.

I run a JMS-S with 2 Gauss and 4 sL.
With 250XL you're approaching 69kph, able to carry 5 tons of ammo for a total of 750 damage available.

When out of Gauss ammo the 4 sL's have come in very handy since it usually comes down to a brawl by then anyway.

With no sL's I run an XL260 and 7 tons of ammo. 2 Gauss clocking over 71kph can be a monster.

For straight dual gauss, have to give it to the K2. XL engine with almost no risk of side torso loss is a win. Firing angle on the Cataphract is annoying, and Jager gets its side torso blown off a lot.

Am I missing something here, because you can fit XL on the K2 with dual gauss just like on Jager. They weigh exactly the same and have the same engine cap. I don't see a reason why they'd have any difference in speed with a similiar loadout?

Maybe you were thinking about AC/20s, because with those K2 can't use XLs, and is indeed slow compared to the Jager.
