Mechwarrior Online has a unique niche market. The stoner and elderly market.
Where else can you find a AAA looking FPS Deathmatch where its slow enough to pack a bowl before the match, grab a beer during the match, and not agrivate your carpel tunnel by the end of the match?
I'm thinking big picture here... BIG BIG picture. The guys who have stuck with this MMO (besides the hardcore mech fans) are average joe players who appreciate the fact they can play a complex game with the kids and stay competetitve due to the slothful articulated pace of the matches. Without getting into too much detail, you guys know what I mean when its nice to use your herbal powers for whicked focus and aim, then the game rewards you for it. It is also nice when matches don't start and end instantly in a neverending loop of digital grind.
MWO is a different breed of casual MMO and I appreciate it for the nuances and I think that any push towards a gameplay style of faster more frantic combat will hurt the overall balance.
My 2 cent ramblings for tonight.
Cheers

Never been a stoner so I guess I fall into the elderly group. That must apply since I am actually 47 years old and have enjoyed the MW games for 20-ish years.

Yeah, i like that, time to enjoy the good things, to read the match and to make calculated decisions instead of memorized APMs...
