I'm just disgusted with these nerf-brand-SRMs. the most recent ask the devs #39 stated that they had reduced splash damage on missiles to something like 5cm effectively removing it. so not only do we have crap damage, we also don't have the splash damage they said would make up for the lack of regular damage. I'm very unhappy about this.

I thought they stated they would return damage to normal after they fixed the splash damage issue?

Make that 3 for damage going back to normal, but I also recall them saying coolant flush wasn't happening.
YMMV

So, what's the consensus? Are SRMs better than they were yesterday? Worse? About the same?

Definitely better than yesterday - but still underpowered. If you're running fewer than 3 racks, depending on where the hardpoints are, you may or may not see much of a difference. The one mech I have where I do see a major improvement is on my CAT-C4 (4xSRM6's + artemis). It finally feels "lethal" again.

They still need a damage increase to be anywhere near as viable as pin-point damage weapons.
I hope the trend of spread reduction over damage increase doesn't just continue... that'll take MWO down the same path as Hawken in the 'make everything do pretty much the same thing = balance' department.

A little easier to hit with and better for those surprise meetings at a corner/snapshots... still hardly anything to write home about: the heat and MASSIVE tonnage required to make them even slightly viable as opposed to energy/ballistics is hurting us poor SRM lovers.
