I won't be able to buy the founders pack until September when I get my next round of grants and loans in for college. Which sucks being that all the good game releases happen when I'm flat broke! Heck I'm wondering if they are going to show up at E3 which is going on this week.
That would be some good coverage for them.

Getting founders pack cause it's the quickest way to play with mechs again after over a decade of nothing. Founders mech and in-game cash are just bonus.

If you marked "Getting the Founders pack" in the beta questions you won't get into the beta until July. Why would they need to invite you sooner? They know you'll buy it to get in. Anyone else think this besides me?

You are thinking about it all wrong. There are groups of players. You have the free only players who will most likely not give you any money, the middle of the road players who are fine with the concept but haven't decided to spend money, and the players who will easily give you money. They need to test their monetization scheme against all these groups.

The players who are already giving you $30-60 are also likely to spend more on the game over time if they like the game.

Nobody with common sense thinks like this. They asked the question because it will give them an estimate of revenue out the gate. The devs ultimately are doing this to make money, and all business's do revenue projections.

Closed beta testing is exactly that, testing. It's not a preview so people can see if they like the game. It's to test in ways the devs can't internally. Open beta testing is more of a preview, and allows the devs to check their netcode, server stress, sever balancing, etc.

I would assume the biggest factors they are considering when picking people for the closed beta are system specs (high end, low end, ATI, Nvidia, AMD, Intel), followed by previous testing experience. I would also think that they will try to get a certain number of people that haven't played any Mech games before, to get the perspective of people unfamiliar with the franchise.

I'm not buying it mainly because the offer is only extended to the US servers :P I live in NZ and 1/4 of the year In SEA to visit my family so I would have to play in SEA/Oceanic servers to have smooth play :P which is a bummer...

This.

If you are looking for a preview of the game, open beta is your best option to see how the game will run for you and if you are going to invest in it. Closed beta can have some real game break bugs, or can have some heart breaking as systems that show real promise but lack sufficient polish do not make it into the release version of the game.

Now about the Founder's package - I view that in part as "voting with my wallet" - I am a huge fan of the setting and systems, and am really enthused about a persistent online version of the setting to romp about in. I will pay for this because this seems to me very much the kind of game I would like to play, and seems like a community that would be fun to take part in. But I am not fussed if I paid for the Founder's package and for some reason I couldn't get into the game until open beta or after launch. Disappointed, sure, but not upset.

So I'm assuming the Founder's pack will be available at a later date? And also, where can I find info on the pack? My forum search isn't turning anything up. Thanks!

Well since I live in Europe the option wasent really there for me  and I dident know what it was either :P

But would I spend money on it? Well sure, if I like it :) Ive played league of legends and spends a very small sum to get a custom skin. Depending on price I may do the same thing again!

If it helps you get in the beta though? Doubt it
