Tell us what you think of the new Canyon Network map!

Quote

CANYON NETWORK

Bordered by a metropolis on one side and a drop ship base on the other, the Canyon Network is essentially a rare green space in an otherwise arid landscape that doubles as a landfill. The maglev route that bisects the canyon is the most efficient means to transport supplies and personnel across the expanse and is therefore more valuable captured than destroyed. Likened to large scale foxhole warfare, the network is primed for snipers, surprise attacks and quick getaways. One MechWarrior, when asked, said the maglev was fought over so frequently as it was ‘the only way out of the garbage dump.’

The map looks nice but the scale of the plant life looks all wrong while on this map. The plant life make me feel like im playing a normal fps and not sitting in a battlemech at all. Also same draw in prob. as the other larger maps.

This map looks great, but is it just me, or do the terrain hitboxes seem extra loose?

After 4 battles in this map I love it. Very good job, perhaps the best map yet!

Overall impression: looks nice :D and the railroad is great *thumbsup*

IMO, there are too many spots where a mech w/o jumpjets can climb to higher ground (if there's a V-shaped "cut" in a cliff, you can climb that - and there are a lot). If JJ are meant to be useful for movement, i.e. avoiding long detours, then there's currently no map IMO that provides substantial benefits for JJ. I don't hope JJ are meant for poptarting.

Also, dropping at this base (see below) makes you feel like you're in a map/level/trap, not like you're in a realistic battlefield:

It's the border that surrounds the map and is probably meant to keep people from leaving the battlefield. But hasn't got much attention from the level designers, unfortunately. The cliffs inside the map are much prettier. I don't quite see the reason to include those walls - you could as well use a trench or get rid of it altogether (maybe performance issues?). It's similar on Forest Colony, but to a lesser degree: I feel locked inside the map - that breaks immersion.

Love this map, nice mix of open ground and hidden nooks and crannies. Great place to field those new LRMS! Cant wait to see it in 12 v 12. No issues to report, havent been stuck yet and no weird graphical bugs that I have seen. Kudos.

Great map,
but the vegetation bushes are indeed out of scale,
Or at least the bushes don't give me the impression they ought to be that big...

it was the first thing I noticed about the surroundings.

In a match three ravens were running around on the plains, but they looked more like 3 chickens running around in some grassland..

You're in luck, they didn't!* I played for four hours straight, and dropped on it once and died immediately to LRMs.

*note I am aware that my subjective experience does not constitute proof, but based on the data I have available to me it seems that the percentages are not skewed towards canyon.

An intresing Map,

+ The numerous locations to hide and the smal size sugessts intense Battles.

- The Vegitaion looks absolutly out of Scale.

nothing new to add besides thanks for the map - this map adds a lot more strategy to the engagement while still letting you pull out if things get hairy. It will probably be my favorite map. Great design for the most part.

I dont know. Out of the 20 or so matches I played since patch I got the map 2 times. Both times was when the matchmaker puts me in a 8-0 match that lasted about 5 minutes each.

That being said *eph* your matchmaker and the elo system pgi!

one ahh $h!* can ruin a hundred attaboys!

Well,

I like the style and that it is a very tactical map, where you can plan ambushes, small skirmishes or just nuke from afar.

Also I like those plants, you can even make them bigger. Mammoth is the new decent.

The map really looks like a battletech map ;) Love the position of the centre cap point on conquest mode. It's risky to cap. A little bit of cover, but you can get sniped from all angles.

The map is good, fairly easy to get ontop of the clift sides though. It runs amazingly on my PC, I seem to be getting more frames in this map than Alpine.

Would have liked to give it a try, but seeing how you just broke the game even further with this latest patch - I really don't see the point of even trying it until June when the next patch (to fix the current patch, which was to fix the previous broken patch, which was to fix the missile broken patch) comes out. (notice a pattern?)

Nice smaller map for quick brawling while still enabling some sniper work. Not to mention the lrm firestorms being unleashed (sheesh).

Only qualm is the already mentioned vegetation looking out of place.
