I can't believe so many of you had enough trouble with poptarts to the point you wish physical discomfort on the community at worst, or condemn them as a bunch of liars at best.

I mean, I wasn't a fan... it made the game rather boring. That said, it took only an iota of skill to counter a poptart, unlike many of the big problems the game has/does face ( LRMs of death, streakcats, pinpoint 6xPPC damage, etc... ) such problems from poptarters. How bad at this game are you?

Didn't say it was my ride of choice...and this is about the good of the game, not any particular build I happen to like. poptarting was ridiculous.

Again, im not a fan of poptarting, although frankly I dont see it nearly as often as people are complaining about... but "fixing" it with a solution that makes jump jets on medium and lighter mechs useless and makes a portion of the population literally sick... don't you see how that might be a bit of an issue?

I'm totally cool with reticule shake while jump jets are engaged by the way. That would have been an easy, effective and sensible fix. Then again, this is the company that brought us ECM... after that patch, nuance isn't something I expect from PGI.

I'm not horrifically offended by the comment as I take it as being meant as a joke. I dont think PGI realize just how sick these changes are literally making some people.

So basically, I take it as a harmless joke. A stupid one in the context, but a joke none the less.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Yes people its call " Sarcasm" for pete sakes so get over yourself's already.

Did you not play for the month where there were at least 3-4 poptart highlanders on each side in every match?

I agree...I believe it should be scaled so that lights have almost no shake and mediums just a bit more. And no, I don't have a problem with the portion of the population who were ruining MWO with their poptarting getting physically ill. It's their choice. All they have to do to make it stop is stop poptarting. Problem solved. Which I believe was the point of the change...

None of our internal testers reported this issue, but we will be monitoring this thread as it ruminates.

Possible Workarounds:
A ) Turn on lights.
B ) Sit further from your monitor.
C ) Take a 10 minute break whenever you start to feel ill.
D ) Ginger capsules or other anti-nauseants can be effective. Consult your field medic.
E ) Don't press Space.
F ) Un-equip Jump Jets.

Just saw this and have to say I find it extremely offensive. My wife suffers from vertigo and nausea in first person games. She actually does keep a bag of crystallised ginger next to her desk while gaming. I'm currently playing through Max Payne 3 and Bioshock Infinite on her PC, while she sits back in the room and watches. During scenes with fast motion or flashy camera (really bad in Max Payne with the trippy film effects) she has to look away and wait till its over.

This is a very real problem that effects a good portion of the population. To make such a casual post belittling a real issue is appalling. Niko, you really missed the mark with that one.

I dont poptart. Hell, here are my mech usage stats. Yes, I use mechs that have jumpjets, but you will notice they are by far the minority. Notice for example the Trebuchet I use most is the one without jump jets. Ditto for the Blackjacks. I havent even touched the Catapult or Cataprahct that support jump jets since stats were recorded.

My issue with this change is not because I am a poptart, as you can or at least, should be able, to clearly see. My issue is, the change literally does make me sick. Like other people are reporting here.

All that said, off all the issues this game has had, poptarting was never one I found difficult to counter or even exploitive. I dont mind them getting rid of it, I dont think a heavy or heavier mech should be able to accurately shoot 500+m while jumping. Its just the way they went about doing it ****** the game up.

Maybe just maybe this "evidence" will convince you that we aren't all pop-tarters looking to save our precious toy, and that this is in fact causing nausea, but I am not holding my breath.

Yes, its also the newest mech, so I have some perspective on that. Every time a new mech is released or new weapon is tweaked, there are an obnoxious number of them in game, especially if they are good mechs. On top of this, and I dont know how aware of BT lore you are, but the Highlander is known for jumpjeting, so you were going to have a ton of people anticipating it. Poptarting started with the Trebuchet, as it is a natural strategy for the design, but you didnt hear much complaining back then.

EDIT: Ok wow, anyone else having the forum act like its stuck in mud?

I reiterate that in favor of those who are having a physical reaction to the shaking, that a compromise would be to revert the JJ shake changes as long as the ability to fire while the mech is in the air is removed.

Deal?

You seem to have missed the part where this effected everyone using jumpjets, not just poptarts.

Then you can personally relate how limited the problem is to that degree.

None of their testers puked while testing. Internet trolls have to be taken with a grain of salt.

People with REAL, ACTUAL ISSUES PLAYING THIS GAME can either try the things listed, or just can't play. There is nothing in the MWO TOS that says it will be playable by everyone. It is a moving 1st person game, it was a matter of time before some particle effect or screen shake made it unplayable for some people.

Ironically, holding your breath can help with nausea.

Didn't have a problem with the treb...was an appropriate mechanic for a lighter mech.

I can see you realy do fear the poptats, i saw another post that sugested removing zoom whilst air born, that and the reticle shake should be a good fix and yet leave jenners and trebs to spray and pray whilst in flight.

But you want no shots to be fired in the air? You think you will be safe than ya ? Well i kinda hope they do stop us from firing just for you dude.
