Jump Jets Poptarting Feedback

Mechs used: Cataphract 3D, HGN-732, Trebuche

When you Jump Jet your cockpit and crosshair will shake and cause your accuracy to be competely off. To circumvent this, you can only fire after you let go your jump jets.

1) Jump jet high
2) Jump Jet key
3) Reallign your targeting while you are falling
4) Fire

This system completely nerfed the Highlander poptarts because they don't jump high enough to give enough window for you to reallign to your target and they torso twist too very slow.

Highlander Heavy Metal will still be viable to pop tart because it jumps 28m which is 5m higher than cataphracts.

Cataphracts are nerfed as well but not as significantly as Highlanders. The cataphract jumps very high so it gives enough time for the pilot to reallign. The risk of running the cataphract poptart is that you have to use all your jumpjet fuel to give yourself a big enough window to reallign your cross hair. That means you will be exposed even longer.

Trebuches can jump even higher than cataphracts so they have a large window to reallign.


The red circle will show where you will fire while you using jump jets.

Does this cone-of-fire make all weapons hit a single point or does it make each individual weapon hit a different location?

They should all hit together (without regard for convergence of course) but the shot will take place within that zone.

Single point usually way off from the middle.

It's still possible to poptart as HGN but you need at least 2 jump jet , have full fuel and be quick.

FYI, this is another thing copied from MW:LL. Although, MW:LL includes better (read: more fun) jump jets... sooo.

I'm okay with this. The Devs have said themselves JJs are primarily for scaling terrain.

Less Poptarts = More Fun

Now if they can address boating PPCs

Essentially the developers are taking their game, and with the feedback of a few, nerfing every
mech that uses jump jets. You can ramble on about how this make it fair for everyone, but the bottom line is warfare isnt fair. So now instead of Poptarts we have lumbering mech that standoff at 1500 meters and shoot at each other. How about nerfing the amount of long range weapons a mech can have. I am not one of the Poptarts that have caused this problem. But moving across terrain and having the ability to take an accurate shot when using jump jets is an important part of strategy and tactics. If the shaking and inacurracy is any indication of tech in the year 3050 whats the toilet look like. :ph34r:

OP: THANK YOU!!!!!! Proof that the shake didn't cripple pop-tarting, just made them prove their actual piloting skills. Blah, blah, thinking man's shooter, blah blah...

The differences between a 3D or Highlander poptart, and a Stalker with 4-6PPCs:
The stalker is much (MUCH) weaker at close range
The stalker runs hotter
The stalker is a big slow target while sniping, and even when they ridge they can be hit pretty reliably. I frequently land a shot or two into the cockpit of any ridging Stalker which seems to dissuade them. (Not because I'm that amazing at aiming, just because when a Stalker ridges the Cockpit tends to be center-of-mass for the part you see).

Generally speaking things have improved, and when weight-based shake makes it in, and they nerf either boating or the PPC directly things will improve again.

Oh, and if you love poptarting so much, it's still entirely possible, and honestly pretty easy if you can snapshot (like good brawlers and snipers typically can). I've made plenty of post-nerf shots in my highlanders from midair.

But to be perfectly honest running up most hills is better or at the very least AS effective as JJing over it except for very few instances, and JJs will actually get you caught on a lot of terrain you wouldn't get caught on while running.

I still think it needs a more massive thrust to start based on number of JJs.
