LRMs arent doing HUGE amounts of damage

but they are homing on CT like streaks

and even when I get hit from DIRECTLY behind

they do damage to my FRONT CT rather than rear

they basically ALWAYS hit front CT from any angle

glitch?

splash effect?

regardless its lurmaggedon mark IV out there so watch the skies

hahaha I feel you, I think the damage on them is probably fine right now

but they are hitting CT every shot

one time a volley lost track and hit my left arm in a centurion

left torso took no damage

but my CT still did

how in the hell did the splash jump across?

also I can totally confirm that getting hit DIRECTLY from behind will take your CT armor off BEFORE it takes your rear armor off

its like rear armor doesn't take the damage, it just transfers it to CT

For most (if not all) mechs, the top is counted as the front. LRMs dome down on top of the mech, hitting front CT from any angle.

then that explains why tonights games are all

Lurmaggedon 4: Fall of the Poptarts
Death from above blu ray special edition

poptarts are annoying but broken LRMs have always been just as bad

why can't PGI just make LRMs hit hard but fly relatively flat?

like in closed beta? before the artemis patch broke, and they haven't been balanced for 9 months now

The whole point of LRMs though is to go over obstacles and hit mechs behind them. I do think there are some problems with too much hitting CT, (the CT being the top of the mech thing) Good players will learn to avoid this as it primarily happens when you are facing toward or away from the missiles launch point, and standing still or moving toward/away. Moving perpendicular to the flight path will massively reduce the damage you take, and standing still or going toward/away with you torso twisted will get mostly arm hits.

There are some other what I can only call bugs occurring though in my testing:
CT takes higher damage per missile hitting it.
Larger mechs take more damage per missile hitting them, smaller less.

There are other bugs that sometimes make missiles do no damage too.

What it comes down to right now though is missiles just became a viable choice again so put back on your AMS (1 AMS will shoot down on average 7-9 missiles) if you are near someone and both have 1 AMS, or you have 2 that should reduce damage from a 40 missile salvo by 40%. If you have 3-4 AMS near you a 40 missile salvo will be reduced to only 10-15.

an ECM mech (usually the light ones) staying within 180m of a missile boat completely prevents it from locking onto any enemy targets so it can only dumb fire. Being near a ECM prevents any enemy from firing missiles at you unless they use tag which can easily be broken by moving behind any obstacle or other mech. So ECM is a near perfect defense against LRM still.

This may seem like a LRM apocalypse to you today, but give it a week for people to realize they are weapons again and adapt. Then they will likely seem underpowered again (though only a little).
