Right after the patch i've noticed that moke from dead mechs is killing performance fron ~40 to 10 fps when I look at it.
This is kind of strange, assuming that I have good framerate when mechs are alive and well and shoot lasers with missiles but when they die my GPU dies as well from the smoke.
Other effects seem to be fine but something is wrong with black mech smoke.

Same here, has been doing it for a while.
...see similar results if I get heat WAY up and then hit reverse and let the steam waft around in front of my mech.

Getting hit by LRM generates smoke that drops my FPS from 50 to 15.

Same here. When my own mech is smoking the fps rate drops down unbelievably. I´m using a GF560 amp.
If it matters: This issue occured after the latest patch. The game ran good and cool before that patch.

Not sure if it is the same issue but i get very bad lag spikes in the crater of Caustic. And i mean bad as in 1 second hickups in the game.

Confirming this one.
Nvidia GTX560 320.18 current driver.
8GB and 5ghz i7
Previous to this last two patches, I had rock solid FPS ~50-55 even with heavy fighting, even from early beta. Recently, any smoke onscreen cripples FPS. LRM smoke is bad, but backing up with a hot mech literally drags me down to <5fps when the 'steam' is entered. Driving AC mechs I have to drive at least a little forward while firing or I drop to <20fps while in my own smoke cloud.
I've tried dropping graphics settings very low, turning off AA, several things. Nothing seems to improve the smoke FPS drop. This is impacting my playstyle, as I avoid any situation where smoke is onscreen while also needing to fire.
Competitive play is impossible until this is resolved, so I'm regulated to PUGs until this is patched and I feel comfortable going back to my unit as a fully effective mechwarrior.
