One reason really: it is a far, far better platform for a weapon load out I was already using on my JM6-S.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3d83fdb4af70063

That is the current load out for the FB, my JM6-S was pretty much identical the only major difference being the PCCs were torso mounted.

Now the JM6-S was my dedicated sniper Yager and it had been through several iterations; quad AC2s, dual Gauss, 2 PPCs and 2 AC2s, single gauss and PPCs, ect, ect.

For the longest time I was happy to use the dual Gauss but the drawbacks always had me looking for a better option (exploding sucks). When a recent patch buffed the AC5s (range and R.O.F.) I decided to try two of those in the arms and a pair of PPCs and frankly, it blew away the Dual gauss set-up. Despite needing heat sinks it carried more ammo, had the same range profile, same damage and it never reached the point of "out of ammo and now useless".

I really liked shooting the load out but those torso energy mounts were a huge liability which often had me firing my torso in to what ever ground cover I had not crested enough. There was also that whole firing on elevations thing...

But now we have the Firebrand, and with those energy weapon arms... it feels somewhere between a twice and a million times better.

I highly recommend this loadout, you may want a bigger engine, I have found that I don't really need it (I use 280-300 in my other yagers).

I was going to post some game footage of the Firebrand but when I went to grab a few clips I found I had a few hundred MWO files in there and... ya... I'll try to sort through it and edit in some footage later. Until then here's my paint job:

I concur. I too love my Firebrand. I shall have to try vanilla AC5s, but I really enjoy the random torrents of firepower from the ultra flavoured ones.

Firebrand <3

Picked it up yesterday after the patch.. I'm loving it! It's versatile and the added engine size suits my preferred hit and run speed need!

UAC's are so underrated right now! .... Combine the random Ridiculous ROF potential of UAC5s with all those energy hardpoints.... OR take advantage of the higher engine with 2 LPL, 4 MPL, and the new MG range..... Light Killer.

Agreed. Lovin' the firebrand so far.

I tend to run 3 AC5's and 4 Medium lasers on my JM-S....so for the FB that got changed to 2 AC5's and 6 medium lasers. It's a BEAST (pun intended) and plenty fast.

Still waiting to experiment between A5's and the UAC5...with the reduced recycle time on the AC5's I like them even more than I did before.

Went with a quad PPC/ERPPC build last night. have the two on the torso linked and the two in the arms linked, I chain fire both sets.

Very Nice.

On the paint, try switching the red to black, so you just wind up with the flames. Really nice look.

I've been fooling around and leveling up my "FIRETARD". About to have speed tweak at which point the fun really starts.
I keep going back to a pair of ERPPC's with a STD300, 18 DHS and 4 sL's.

Must run as much armor as possible. For me it has to be 400 minimum.

I ran a PPC UAC5 for a bit and also did the AC5 route. I just like the UAC5's better.

Love the Firetard.

I tried a bunch of stuff yesterday on mine and am happiest with basically a beefed up Rifleman setup. I just run LLAS and AC5 in each arm, couple of med lasers and a STD 265 (I think) that I had laying around. People still pop my side torsos like mad hoping I'm runing and XL and I keep on trucking.

Runs hot, and I'm going to blame some FPS issues on my moderate success, but I'm having fun.

I have been having a lot of trouble recording lately, since the latest patch anyway, not much useable footage sadly. Here is some that wasn't too terrible:

A shame I couldn't save some other games, I went 6-0 in one of them :)
