This game has great graphs, great mechs and functions. I love it, except for one thing...theres nothing BUT combat maps. wheres the rest of the universe that goes with mw? planetary travel for new maps maybe. each system has certain planets with certain maps, which would require jump ships you would have to buy with your earnings or in store before you could ever leave the original maps it has now. could also include a few moons or other that are neutral ground and open pvp areas, where anything goes at any given time. this would also allow a duelist combat arena or where a few guys can practice, just 2-3-4, ect. what about town ships cities, and localities? places we could dress down, or up..and go socialise in the game, which in turn could lead to fashion items and clothing lines people would like to have, mic and match. perhaps land vehicles we could own, air vehicles to get around out side of combat maps. which could lead to land and air mini games and races. what about housing? build your own on plots or buy pre made? or maybe you want to shack up in your clan stronghold in a room all your own with minor storage befitting rank and station? theres also combat fliers and other forms of attack craft, tanks and other hardware a unit could put to use. could even make those buy with cb's or store and they are npc "follower" platoons you can direct by the mini map, and they do pre ordered functions, buff debuff, and damage enemies until destroyed. rebuilding would cost materials and money. theres just so much you could do with this game, and you have the official mechwarrior name so you should, in the long term, try to live up to it. constant battle battle battle only has but so much appeal. and of course there would be piles of profit in it for you, the game company depending on what you integrate into your store. i know guys who spend 100 a week on star trek online trying to level up the tiers in thier fleet star base ;0)

i dont feel that these are bad suggestions, i hope others will stand behind them, enough so that demand will be high enough to incorporate them. id even dload a whole new client if required, just to load into the new areas. whatever it took!

come on group, especially you die hard mech warriors from the past who k now what im talking about. those of you who collect all the novels...give this post a awesome bump with your opinions please!

*not there may be another similiar post, if so i apologize ahead of time!*

I'd certainly like to see MWO become something bigger, but I believe that with your high expectations you are bound to get disappointed. In terms of finances, this game just isn't big enough to warrant the kind of investment necessary to build a fraction of the things you listed. Also, some of them would negatively detract from the core experience or even make no sense. Every single pilot owning his or her own dropship, for example (although this is a feature I could see in a sort of minimal economy management mode for Merc corps).

Perhaps some day far in the future we could get something like what was announced for EVE, though even that is already very far-reaching, especially as the core concept on MWO really is as simple as "log in and shoot people". To put it simply, it's "Counterstrike with giant robots", and even the few bits of roleplaying we've got going on are entirely user-funded with little to no support from the game.

The Battletech setting would certainly allow for many more components to be added to MWO, but ultimately we should be realistic when it comes to the developer's priorities. Let's just make the most out of the potential we're offered. :)

well as far as drop ships per player, it could be a fleet/company/clan item along with a stronghold. perhaps after a certain tier your stronghold could earn a drop ship, or jump ship, along the way.

as for the game not earning enough to do even one of these things....i thought i listed a few good things they could add, that would turn more profit, personally. unless they are renting use of the mechwarrior name, they should be backed by fasa ( unless fasa sold out or went under and im not aware) or a subsidiary ? plenty enough money there, if they can show the potential for growth and increased income ill bet you. right now the game has ...dash items for cash? neet, but im not impressed. new mechs...sure....thats nice.....new skins.....yay good for terrain changes i suppose.
what i *SUGGEST* is a means to draw more than one hard core pvp crowd, more types of players. right now the game doesnt have much TO spend cash on. how many players do you think have left, not being hard core mw universe lovers...after they got tired of just load blam blam blam, load blam blam blam, load. i almost did. ive barely touched it since it has only direct pvp, cant even go to the local mechi lube...the things i suggest would open new doors, maybe, and new ways to make income and new ways for new and old players to enjoy the game even more.

now, i dont argue the fact, that anything that would require a client rewrite, and couldnt be patched in or plugged in, would be a costly sum indeed to have a team work up from scratch.
so you got me there, but if the right people read this (devs out there?) perhaps a few of the ideas, if not already presented previously and denied, could be turned over and thought about.
again, they are just suggestions. and this game needs something more. i tell you, i havent spent a dime on it, and dont plan to unless the game can eventually be more than it is now. it sure needs it. im glad you have settled though. your reply pretty much made me FEEL like you very nicely said " they are barely scratching by as is, just settle for this." well, if these suggestions can give them more cash, thatll help go toward the no funds problem, which seems to be the main basis of your denial in your reply.
why not have high expectations..its an awesome mw universe that has already been created. should i have low expectations? damn i mean id HOPE the devs had HIGH expectations as well.

your points are valid, but are obstacles the game needs to overcome to be more than this. did i mention the hundreds of dollars going into our fleet at star trek...each WEEK. between 5 ppl, average that against the player base, not even counting small spening accounts, minus no spend accounts. wow, thats alot of dough! if they can do it, mw can do it better yes?

perhaps some things would take form the game, as suggestions, those could be denied. obviously.

i would just love to see this game grow from this to somethng larger over time. maybe over time also this post will get enough hits to get the right peoples attention, or somone will copy paste it where it will.

replies and opinions, obviously welcome. ty!

You're testing the combat mechanics of the game. Probably the toughest portion of the game to get right in terms of feel and immersion whilst still taking some care to balance the gameplay itself.

what I think you're really after is more CW level aspects and those aren't coming till near end of summer (or later if PGI's current trends continue).

PGI isn't going to introduce CW aspects until they are confident the tactical level play is close to where they want it....so while it sucks for those of us really interested in getting into the "world" that is the BT universe, it's putting the cart before the horse as far as they are concerned.

well i cant wait till the end of summer then! either way mission accomplished, voiced my opinion, topic stands, and hopefully as time passes toward yr 2-3 some of the aspects mentioned will come about as well as the play your mentioning, a bit sooner. either way i keep the game updated, playing or not, and keep an eye on whats happening, hoping.waiting. and honostly id just loove them to add an option where your training ground, training time could also be played against bots, and give you a tour of the maps, 1 round, ends, map swap automaticly, begin new map. repeat. with adjustable bot ai, either server side or user chosen difficulty level. and that, would be actually rather easy, considering the training ground has everything there alreay, except a few choice options and the bot ai....

you mention the battletech universe, wasnt aware bt and mw were the same game universe, and ive enjoyed bt since crescent hawks inception for ibm got my attention. man loved that game, still have it, in box with an emulator for windows =0).
from there bought some manuals, started designing maps, and being an old dungeons and dragons player, designed towns and areas with text descriptions, monsters and loot so it played out with maps and figurines along with text style adventure. man my buddies and i used to have a great time. and THAT is why i suggest the things i do, not because im saturated by modern market mmo's and how they work.
it just happens that modern mmo's in f2p have some great cash earning systems, that players actually enjoy puting into. for a closer look at a great system, try looking at the shop and the fleet system for star trek online, as well as theyre lock box system as an EXAMPLE.

OK, TT Mechwarrior (not Battletech) in almost every game I've played over the years with various GMs has amounted to the players whining about the time that's spent out of combat. I learned to accept this as a player and have always treated MW as a combat game with short interludes that include some plot while people grizzle. My personal view is that if you want "real RP" you don't play MW, you play a different system like Amber Diceless or some variant of D&D/Warhammer FRP/GURPS/D20/Traveller/Rolemaster/Harnmaster/ANYTHING ELSE with a decent GM.

That doesn't mean that I think MW is a deficient RP system, it just means that it's more battle focussed than most RP systems. To be fair, d20 and D&D3+ are now also battle focussed (as well as many other systems that I've never bothered playing or haven't had the opportunity to play). In fact, some of the other systems that I've played most people would consider to be battle focussed, I've just lucked out and found some good GMs, or run some decent RP campaigns myself over time.

hehe, upcoming content....lmao. text wall incoming for 300000 damage? lmao sorry for those big posts.
ya know, now that i think back to the past a bit harder, i think we started rping because it was just fight fight run for cover and fight that we became tired of. but agreed the game mechanics are heavily designed toward combat. i personally, never realised the mass population complained about non combat scenerio. for instance, the only time i played at a gencon i played ad&d, second edition rules. never had the oppertunity for any bt or mw.
perhaps you guys spent faaar too much time manuevering, traveling long distances or building temp, permanent strongholds? only you and they really know! but once again, i think all points valid on your part, and the topic is finally, if i am not mistaken, about to hit the point where real discussion can start =0)
we had a great time, id set up page upon page of possibilities for our group, bars and dives meeting shady characters for intel, or purchasing black market weapons. meeting turn coats or even settling disputes between men of our company...outside the mech (repairs ya know) or just bar brawling with the locals, and trying outrun the local law enforcement after =0). great times. many possibilities.
