So I'm actually going to be on vacation in Vancouver for a week in August. I was wonder what the locals would recommend for things to do, great restaurants, or sights to see. The only things I think I have planned so far are the suspension bridge tree top tour just out of town and some whale watching.

Ride the Skytrain.
Ride the Seabus.
Take in a Vancouver Whitecaps MLS game.
Visit the science museum.
Take a boat to Nanaimo or Victoria.
Take a day trip to Point Roberts, one of only two exclaves in the United States.
Go down to Wreck Beach.
Stand on Quebec St. between Expo and Pacific Blvd, and imagine how there used to be a major international street race held right there every year.
Go hiking at Grosse Mountain.

Yes Wreck Beach - very good. Its where the PGI teams hangs out on the weekend.
Oh and Stanley Park

Assuming you are of drinking age of course, but if you are, go to Gastown and no need to leave, its easily the best part of Vancouver.
