I really appreciate getting near-daily tidbits about UI 2.0. Two weeks is a long time between patches, we're mostly in the dark about what's going on, and it's really nice to see a sprinkle of new-and-interesting stuff so frequently.

You guys should think about doing it for other stuff like maps and 'mechs. Either way, thanks.

Agreed. The UI posts and feedback responses are fantastic.

I hope we'll get the same thing for CW?

Pretty please?

I third this. It makes the forums a valid source of info, as opposed to twitter or facebook. It also feels like you actually care about our feedback regarding the new UI, which is pretty awesome. I understand that our feedback is less important in regards to asset creation, but if you throw us a bone ever now and then, we really do appreciate it. We want this information because we love the game, or we wouldn't be here.

I disagree. Only because this is ALL they are updating on.

We were promised CW Phase 1 back in March would come in June and we have only heard it isn't happening this month. Nothing beyond that.

What about plans on balancing?

Plans on content?

Did I mention CW?

Showing screen shots from an unfinished feature that will not impact game play and comes out in 4 months? meh.

Just draw and quarter whomever decided to keep Flamers, MGs, and LBXs the way they are and we're cool.

Understandable. But here's the way I look at it: I can ***** about being in the dark about all that stuff, or I can be happy that we're getting previews of something. I chose the latter.

They're a small, inexperienced developer. Hell, the only reason I'm not a Founder is because I had zero faith in them to deliver a product. I thought giving my favorite franchise to the Bass Pro people was a sick joke. But it turns out they proved me wrong.

As many problems as the game has and as much content as it doesn't have, MWO still far exceeds my expectations. And there's only more to look forward to.

I think most of the people complaining about how broken it's been for so long need to take a reality check: this game is what most of the games industry considers pre-Alpha/Alpha. It's not even close to feature complete, and yet we still get the opportunity to play it.

If you're not enjoying it, you might consider taking a break and coming back when it's the game you want it to be. It's hard to ***** about communication from developers when they have such a small team working on such an ambitious project.

TL;DR: Something > nothing.

^this. My only concern as of late has nothing to do with balance issues or state of the game, or direction. While the rollercoaster can be frustrating at times, there is clear progress and lots of awesome to look forward (and one thing not so much, but that's a different thread...). No, my only issues as of late are the increasing secrecy and lack of communication with the player base. With each 'controversygate' affair, PGI has seemed to pull back and shift towards running silent, and that is a huge mistake, so when I see posts like this commending communication outreach fitting of a AAA title as I would like to see more of, I am feel the need to chime in to encourage this.

So long as we the player base feel engaged and information is forthcoming, reactions and discussions seem much more tempered and productive, even with tough issues. However once we collectively start feeling ignored, minimized, or disregarded, the pitchforks and torches get trotted out much more quickly and things get out of proportion much more easily. It does not need to be this way. More updates of progress/not progress (the important part is the updates), even slow or behind planned schedules is so very appreciated. When it's time to notify the community of something potentially unpopular or controversial, a direct and reasoned approach will generally avoid most of the mess.

Learning MWO news through tweets or second hand relayed msgs from facebook really bothers me as it does many others, and I think is a very unprofessional way for a dev team to communicate to their players that PGI should stop entirely unless anything that winds up on those outlets is shared here first, on the official MWO forum where it belongs. I don't even have a twitter or a facebook (nor will I), so it's also not as inclusive of the player base as is probably assumed. It's really frustrating to be this dedicated to a game and have to learn about it in 140char re-posts to other websites from people that are generally much less involved or concerned with MWO. It feels like learning news about your family, only instead of hearing it from your own family in a timely fashion you hear it a week later from the kid down the street that overheard his babysitter talking on the phone to someone that knows someone in your family. Makes it feel like the family doesn't care enough about you to bother telling you what is going on or doesn't want you as a member.

tl;dr: moar official forum news/updates/interaction, less tweets/facebook

I didn't even realize that thread was getting updated as often as it does until I saw this thread. And holy crap that looks amazing.

And we clearly see the dropship/lobby mode in the recent pics with 4 mechs per drop. Maybe that will stop people from complaining about the lack of new modes....HAHAHAHAAHAHA who am I kidding this community is never happy.

Look the ui is garbage it has to be overhauled and i am sure that means alot of the team is currently tasked with it. I have a boat load of mechs most not bought in an order so trying to find one is a real pain. Not to mention setting up groups, is needlessly clunky. Kinda key for cw i think. Once ui 2.0 is out well see a shift to what we all want mechs and maps. But a big part of that is the hindrance the current ui is.
