Seriously, it's worse than it was before.

Pre-HSR, I could at least consistently hit targets with ballistics and SRMs by leading further ahead of a target than seemed visually correct. It was ugly, but it worked. Since HSR. however, I can find no method to the madness of hit detection. Sometimes, aiming behind a target hits it. Sometimes in front. Sometimes on it. But never consistently in any one location.

This **** needs to be properly addressed. I don't care if HSR needs to be yanked until it actually works: I'm sick and tired of obviously on target shots doing 0 damage.

Last round, I was in a Highlander with 2xER-PPCs and 3 SRM-6 w/ Artemis. I was sitting, stationary, firing at an also stationary Atlas at a distance of about 90M. I let loose 2 full alphas perfectly center mass, and had ZERO hits detected (and this was reflected by no change in the targets damage readout).

This happens almost every round I play, and my ping is never more than 85-87 ms.

WTF PGI? I know I'm not the only one experiencing this, because I've seen other posts about it. I'm inclined to believe anyone who claims not to be experiencing this doesn't know how to place their shots accurately and are just happy to get random hits with crappy gunnery skills, because the guys in my clan ARE excellent shots, and they experience the same damn thing.

Narc Beacon hit detection has been really bad. Decided to play with Narcs last night and maybe 1/5th straight through mechs.

Do you experience high ping variations? HSR will throw a fit if your ping suddenly incereases/decreases.

HSR - Host State Rewind

Basically from what I gather, just a bunch of netcode that enables high-ping players to be competitive, but also making low to normal-ping players not so competitive... apparently...

Yeah - I've noticed some wonky hit detection lately too, specifically with ballistic weapons / PPCs.

I'm sure they're still working on it - HSR is a work in progress more than a fully-implemented feature. But it does need a bit more TLC.

It could be all weapons.

Lasers hit detect for each tick of their damage so if a single tick did not register you likely would not notice. Likewise missiles hit detect per missile so a single missile not registering would probably go unnoticed.

Where that PPC not registering on an un-moving stalker is quite noticeable.

Will be subject to tuning to make it play well with the netcode. They cant do that until its released to the game. God, learn something about how software works will ya?

This.

Reliable online play is going to be hectic even if you have under 100ms pings. That is if your ping is 20ms, then 80, then 30, then 90, then 30, ect. Having a stable 105ms ping is better then a under 100ms ping that is jumpy.

To fix this issue make sure all of your equipment is up to date. And I mean everything even down to the wires. Cable modem (or DSL if you have that), router with updated firmware, motherboard/NIC (most NIC are on the mobo nowadays) and make sure those drivers are updated. And if you live in a house where cable was installed between the 70s and 90s you may need the lines replaced. That means from the modem all the way to the pole. Age causes them to drop packets and water will do crazy things if it gets into the lines. A simple call to your broadband provider to check and fix and/or replace such lines is routine as long as you're the head of the household (or can convince them of it, they typically don't care as long as someone is there to check off that they did in fact come and fix what they said they would).

If modem/router or NIC is over 5 years old, it might be the problem. Cables such as ethernet cables are about the same. Coax and fiber need to be replaced every 10-15 years depending on the area. And of course software needs to be up to date as the updates are pushed out.

Down south not far from where i live, the area is still using lead phone lines and one day hopes to upgrade to copper....
if it wasn't for the existence of cable id still be forced to use AOL dial up. We have lost perspective on how far we have come and how far we still have to go.....
