Greetings MechWarriors!

Sometimes it's fun to make a camo that really stands out on the battlefield - something that shouts to the world that you're here, be afraid! Other times, maybe you don't want to be orange/turquoise/pink this time. Maybe you want to blend in more.

Well this is one example of just that. This Cicada X-5 really blends into the background, and this is how camo is meant to work (at least in the real world.) Though watch for catching yourself in the sun, as that Centurion is doing! Those shiny glints will give your Mech away!

Also, we hope to see you in game this Friday for another twitch.tv event with the guys at NGNG!

If you have requests for future shots, let us know!

Cheers, The MechWarrior Online Team

Yes, matching your mechs cammo with the map that you're playing on is verry cool indeed. This is what I want to do since CB. Can't wait for the UI2.0 so we can select our mechs for specific maps. Making 1 mech for a specific map with weapons and cammo to match will be glorious. Untill then Optimus prime (blue&red) colours it is.

Now if only we could select our camo based on the map selection... hopefully you guys are already considering this for UI2.0 ;)

I see what you did there!

But yea why call this the weekly screenshot when we haven't had one in a couple of months? It's like the ISN feed that seems to sputter on and off every few months... you try to build community immersion yet it's like a child's attention span has created it.

They keep attempting to filter out the UrbanMechs, I guess they let another one slip!

It's actually funny you should say that; this is true (unless you are under ECM, and then the haze in most maps makes camo quite effective). However, if you really insist that your camo do something, I would recommend Dazzle. Yes, it's gaudy as hell. But it does in this game exactly what it was designed to do in the real world.

Yes, that's right, it's a real thing: http://en.wikipedia....zzle_camouflage

So if you insist on doing everything tactically, consider dazzle. It does do a fairly good job of breaking up your mech's silhouette, and it makes it harder to target specific sections of your mech, which is exactly the point. This was camo designed for situations in which everyone can see everyone else, just like in this game, so the aim is not to conceal the vehicle but to make it hard to distinguish certain parts.

Until then, check out Lordred's shots which updates more often! Bookmark it, as it updates at least once every few days with new image dumps.

Nice shot! Unfortunately, it's hard to design a good camo without trial and error process, as background and lighting environment in the MechLab is different from combat maps. So let us select camo pattern and colors for target mechs in the Training Grounds for free, so we can see before buying! After choosing proper pattern, hues and tints/shades of colors we'll be more sure to buy them and apply on our mechs!
