MWO need to have hard point slot size restrictions according to the size of weapons the mech started with. So a STK-3F would have two slots in each arm and you could add 2 medium lasers or room for one large. Adding this into the game would fix pop tarts and high alpha builds and make some mechs that are worthless now an actual a viable option. If you look at a stalk STK-3F everyone runs 6XPPC's in this build but if we had restrictions on slot size it could hold no PPC's and at most 4 large lasers.

This would also be a huge buff to mechs that need it like the awesome it would be one of the few mechs that could boat 3 or more PPC's and also give the Cicada CDA-3C a buff as it would be the lightest mech that could hold a PPC.

The biggest counter I have heard to this type of balance is that players would not be able to customize mechs as much but I dont see this as an issue with the amount of mechs PGI is giving us and should you really be able to drop a PPC into a spider? The fact is that we the players are the cause of the weapon balance issues and we will alwase find a way to boat something and I feel this would go a long way to stopping the Buff/Nerf cycles that we are going through. Let me know your thoughts and what you think about this.

tl dr Restrict weapon slots to stock sizes to balance everything.

I respectfully disagree with your suggestion.

IMO a better way to restrict boating would be ot introduce exponentially higher heat when multiple instances of the same heavy weapon are fired in quick succession.

E.g., You have 6 PPCs. You fire one. If you fire another before the first is halfway through its cool-down, the second PPC generates 10% more heat than normal. A the third one would to 20% extra, and so on, and so on. Of course, the exact numbers will have to be finely tuned but I think that would be a more interesting way to go an it will require more skillful heat management on the pilot's part.

Say that would effect all PPCs, LRM15 and 20, SRM6, LL and ERLL, AC20... For a matter of principle LPL should have it too, even though they don't currently need it that bad.

Don't be selfish. Most successful Spider pilots use MPL anyway.

I do agree on having weapon slots, but a big mech like Stalker Should be able to fit 2 LLasers in each arm or 1 PPC each instead.

It's not first time I see this suggestion and as always, I don't agree with it at all.. It seems interesting of course...but it is also limiting customization.. it would nerf many variants ..which is really not needed..

If we want to deal with boating, we need to look at gameplay mechanics.. because hardpoint size would be just temporary solution.. can you imagine Anihilator which just medium hardpoints ? Of course not..but in this case, people would whine "if anihilator can boat, why can't my stalker? QQ"..

So I say big NO to this suggestion..but yes to somehow deal with boating

I see what you are saying, I just got this idea pulling out MW4 and also MWT so it looks like this is the option the other MW games have taken, you could say its the easy road.
