UNLESSSSS
They buff SRM damage when it comes out
a fast moving laser\srm 60 tonner could be the new gold standard in skirmishing
but unless they buff srms, it will run into the same problems as the dragon(bar fat CT)
that is, it will only mount PPCs or Large Lasers to be effective
missile slots will only be good for a couple SSRM sets if SRMs stay as weak as currently
no point in making a 60ton LRM boat when you can make plenty of better LRM boats with 65, or 85 tons.
and catapults\cataphracts can mount more PPCs\Large Lasers
so for the quickdraw to be unique or valuable
it would have to be able to mount a large engine, and plenty of medium lasers and SRMs to hit hard up close
currently SRMs don't hit hard at any range. the last patch allowed them to actually HIT atleast so....
I am hoping for 2.0 damage SRMs the same day the quickdraw releases!

I Am Really Excited For The Quickdraw But It Will Suck Unless

Actually, a 60t LRM/SRM with Medium Laser backup mech sounds nice with a tonnage limit introduced, especially with JJs.

And suddenly every dragon player began crying.

All combine scum, their tears are delicious. ;]
Okay, okay, I am not totally unsympathetic. The Victor is going to obsolete my treasured Awesomes too, so I understand. Would be nice to have the dragon's and awesome's hitboxes tweaked so that they don't become totally worthless, at least; as it is, both are fragile for art reasons, and are about to have mechs at the same tonnage and same firepower but also mounting jumpjets.

I'm pretty sure that despite the JJ nerf, JJ capable mechs tend to survive longer than w/o them. Even if the Quickdraw has a Dragon-like torso, at least you have JJs to reduce your chances of taking a hit... at least that's how the BJ stays useful.

I think that the QuickDraw will be interesting, albeit it will substitute the usual 50 tonners making the whole gameplay even heavier than it is now (at least until tonnage drops will be introduced). It's more interesting of the Dragons, in which the ballistic slot limits your overall performance and if you go energy only you're (flame aside) too asymmetric to be 100% effective.
I'm looking forward to it maybe even more than the Orion, because even before the Orion pushback, I was thinking to skip the 75 tonner in favor of the Victor.. having the ballistic in the RA makes a whole difference especially when you plan to use a gauss rifle. So now I look forward this month with more interest thanks to the QD and the Victor for July

I just want them to introduce melee alongside the Quickdraw.

Agree with OP. Not many tools available for brawlers atm. SRM, in their current form, aren't worth their weight.

well yeah the dragon has the biggest CT in the game it will never be viable in high level play
but the quickdraw is looking like a box on legs itself
so unless it has some serious close range firepower itll be another deathtrap
