Is it wrong to think the game could be better with different core mechanics? If so, I am guilty of wishful thinking.

LOL! Pining for perfection is perfectly rational... and beneficial when those larks of fancy lead to reassessment of game mechanics and thoughts to re-tool for improvement.

I too am guilty of flights-of-fancy. :)

Overstated hyperbole on the other hand...

Have you seen the wardrobe malfunction on the Nvidia Fairy? I've noticed it....

Does that mean that the Nvidia Fairy is underpowered compared to the Hula Girl?

I used to think the opposite, but...

We need a statistics page on cockpit items. Win/Loss, Kill/Death, Accuracy.

Hate to break the circle jerk but I have a couple questions:

1. Has anything ever been overpowered in a video game?
2. What criteria do you use to determine if something is overpowered?

I don't have a problem with sniping, but I do have a problem when people use the same lack of logic to dismiss a claim as the people who made the original claim.

Indeed. I'd say stuff has been overpowered before. If beating something requires more skill, more luck, or generally more effort than beating something else, the first thing might be overpowered, or the second underpowered. Unless of course we have stuff that should obviously suck compared to stuff that shouldn't. Of course, sometimes there is disagreement if a particular thing should be "useful".

But for example, calling people complaining about snipers as people that actually complain about smelling flowers and standing around being underpowered is a gross misrepresentation of the situation. It sure helps a sniper if you stand around and smell flowers, but it's not required for sniping to work. Any type of brief opportunity for a shot can be utilized, and only if non-snipers can manage to outmaneuver a sniper and effectively engage the enemy at their range as easy as the sniper can find cover and take shots at them (but not easier), we would have balance.
You will have to make it like that, or you concede that the winning strategy for the game relies on sniping. That can be a viable take. But I don't think that's the take PGI wanted for MW:O.
