Lrm "swarming" - Why Removed ?

Hallo,

I've made a break for several months, now I returned to MWO.

But after choosing my good old Catalpult for the first round since months, I was shocked....

the LRM-"swarm" doesnt move like a "swarm" anymore.
Instead, its just a lame "straight forward" flight path, like seen in 1000 other games.
Nothing special anymore, just lame

The LRM-"swarming" was an "Eye-Candy", one of the few elements which looked good in this more or less ugly game (omg these textures...)


So, why did they replace the sexy "swarming" with this lame "straight forward" animation ???

Missile speed was sped up, so a non straight path would look ridiculous.

But the lack of swarming could have something to do with the super CT coring behavior they have now. When they swarmed they hit properly spread out over the target mech. Now lrms just add to the PPC center coring meta.

Network performance reasons no doubt. My best guess at least. Having to spin 30-90 missiles at a target every few seconds from a couple of missile boats has got to do ugly things to low-end Frame Rates and Server/Network Load for a match. Times lots of matches... etc... add in Missile HSR... yeah first thing I'd do would be to stop all that spinning.

There is of course another answer. One that a large chunk of the community would probably consider likely ;)

In the re-write of the missile path code some nob accidently the swarm section.
