What's the point? The proper way to report a bug to PGI is to contact support and we (players) are already keenly aware of all the things that are broken.

the point is to consolidate common bugs into an easy-to-find and report section that doesn't require people to search 18 subforums and threads to find so they can see if the problem is already being addressed or is a new issue....

duh

So, "known issues" part of this particular section (the one you posted in) is not good enough for some reason?

I don't know another ebta I've been a part of where I have to browse through several subforums and then browse stickied threads to find a place to consolidate bugs in the game

You are not getting it - the "place to consolidate bugs" is sending tickets to support, as they (PGI that is) are the only ones who need that consolidation. "Known issues" section is where we (players) can see what bugs PGI is supposedly working on. Creating a bug tracker on the forums is not very useful, because none of us can actually fix bugs.

I have absolutely no possible idea how people could be opposed to this suggestion. [REDACTED] The entire purpose of a beta is to detect and iron out errors missed in alpha before release. There are thousands upon thousands of things wrong, be they bugs or just really poor design flaws where the developers are obviously being ridden by execs to money grub instead of delivering quality product.

A bug forum specifically for bugs is essential. The way this forum is set up with a bazillion sub forums and other stupid nonsense is beyond idiotic, it's counter-productive and I have no idea how the devs can collate the data they need on bugs. I can only assume they don't, which is why we still see Ultra AC/5's still jamming every second shot, machine guns still hitting like a poof, and all bought expensive overpriced mechs being essentially broken, like the AUD$40 Misery I bought that had to be gutted to be playable and still is horribly broken because it's one ballistic point can't load an AC20 without a standard engine which then means you can't have any other decent weapons.

It SHOULD be able to have an AC20, an LRM20 and an XL320 engine like in the table top and then still have two machine guns and a bunch of medium lasers to spare. BUT NOOOO. Devs will NEVER hear our complaints because they're scattered everywhere and they're too busy overpricing COLORS for real world money to notice. Yes. I'm bitter. :D

You mean EMAILING support? It sure is good to see they're not making it any easier to submit errors. Not on a forum, no. Nooo. Not by support tickets. Nope. By email. EMAIL. Then they get your email address and subscribe it to *** **** sites for criticizing them and not just handing over all your money like the guys at Kerbal Space Program do, Squid, or Squad, or whatever their name was (the ones who spent all their paid beta cash on drugs then a week later confessed to being almost bankrupt and stealing community modders code to make new 'releases' to make it to steam).

Let me put it to you this way: I am not really opposed to the suggestion - I don't really care if there is a forum section called "bugs" or not (why would I give a broken dime about it?). What I am trying to say is that those of us who have been here for a while have a pretty good understanding on how PGI operates and therefore know that chances of them changing their ways and starting to use this "bugs" section as an actual bug tracker just because you want them to do so are exactly nil.

In-game bug report is one of the first things a beta game should have. To have us take screenshots and send e-mail to report every single bug is honestly just terrible. AFAIK there is still no ETA on this function, which to me suggest a lack of interest of getting bug reports in the first place.

I don't exactly have much faith in support... mostly because dealing with them is asking for frustration. Whether it is READING the content of my e-mail or just providing basic "newbie" instructions (which for the most part is worthless since I have been attempted them prior to e-mailing), you're asking for some teeth pulling.

so we have one forum where players (us) submit everything for discussion + optionally send in tickets (ideally do both ofc) and another forum, in the same section where things being worked on are posted.

How much simpler can it get? mix all the dev posts (which would end up being stickies) into this forum? we'd have a few pages of stickies before getting to active topics which would be stupid.

Yeah I dont see the OPs point at all. There are several ways to submit bugs, post bugs, and there are numerous known issues threads. Maybe hes talking about a bugs page thats linked to the front game so players dont have to actually go to the forums. Since this is open beta though, I think what we have now is reasonable. When the game launches formally I can see having a bugs page.
