afaik the dropship mode will not be a gamemode in that sense as conquest and assault are, just a different way of match making, if i may say so...

as i understood PGI´s latest statements on this, they might add the dropship version to all current and future gamemodes, such as attack and defense...

as i understand it, the dropship thingy would work much similar to how the matches are being played in War Thunder

War Thunder is a good example of how drop ship/lobby mutator might work only limited to four mech instead of being able to use everything we have like in war thunder.

One thought to this would be eject from a gimped mech.

Once ejected, the mech is a hulk for the most part and becomes salvage.

As another suggested, a MechWarrior should be able to eject at any time, but once ejected from a Mech you cannot go back to it, even if it was still functioning.

This will only work with new game modes IMO. Might work ok with conquest though.

Basically it needs territory capture mechanics. So do you drop in with your lihts to rush forward and capture faster then when you die drop in with your assault to defend your ground.

Or do you drop in heavy and force cap a point with limited lights to harrass then push through to steamroll if the other side has gone too light maybe?

The choices about which mech to drop with depending on the situation the game is in is what makes this a great idea not just the idea of respawn. It also means you might want to vary your dropship for such events.

I see something more like battlefield with multiple capturable points that are also where you spawn. However unlike BF i would the spawn points to be linked so you have to take them in order not just cap behind - though you can neutralise from behind to disrupt the frontline and sotp the enemy pushing forward wthout creating a spawn point behind the line.

Anyway ... if they just chuck in 4 respawns i will be VERY dissapointed when it could have been SO MUCH MORE
