I am an average skilled player (a bit above average i like to beleave). I pug 95+% of my matches, I have a W/L ratio of 0,93 and a K/D ratio 1.41 in 2450 games. My average CB per match is 86.600.
I have never played other FTP games so i cannot compaire how hard it is is MWO to buy things but it feels so damn time consuming.
As i said i am an average player and i have to play 115 matches to buy an atlas not to mention equiping it which will add another ~30 matches (we all know DHS are mandatory for an affective built).
These 145 matches equal to 13.5H of playing which just don't feels right to me. I preciate the feedback and i'd like some comparison to other F2P games from ppl who have some experience

I can't compare some other FTP games against this, but until recently I found myself sitting on 30k cbills until I bought a bunch of modules to take less time switching mechs (I have about 13 mechs that I like for different situations and it help prevent getting bored of this game). Here are some ways I noticed help me stockpile cbills:

1) Use the same engine for multiple chassis until you can afford more. Some engines cost more than the actual mechs. When I first started leveling up my Dragons I moved one 300xl engine between each Dragon until I was done with that chassis.

2) If you don't like a chassis, sell it back but keep the equipment. I have more medium lasers than I know what to do with because of this, but I have them on almost every mech I own. This kind of this helps save money when equiping new mechs because you don't have to buy anything ever again (except in my case where a lot of my mechs I throw ultra AC 5s on so I never have them back stocked).

3) Find a mech you have success with and use that to reduce your farming time. For me this also happens to be my favorite mech which also helps.

4) PUG less and group more. Being in a group using teamspeak make you win A LOT more often getting you a lot more money. (I use c3 with my friends but whatever you want to use works)

Atlases don't come cheap that's for sure, actually they're the most expensive mechs out there so it's no wonder really it takes time to to save up for them. But really if you're just playing and trying to win and have fun, CBills comes rolling in at a steady pace.

1) I know, I do that but I don't like having to do it.

2)Yes, I always keep the equipment but the CB from selling just the mech is a joke not to mention i end up having staff i don't need and i didn't actualy wanted to buy. Example: STD245 engine from the jenner eliting, they are just one engine down from the much more usfull STD250 with the 10internal Heat sinks

3)It sure helps but i don't wanna use it, i wanna use the mech i am cruently eliting since this mech is already mastered. I am having more fun knowing that i am unlocking something.

4)I agree with you but grouping up with others soulden't be a must in the game for good griding. I am talking about the evrage pug.

I know they are expensive but ilready have one and i need 2 more to unlock elite, I want elite!

Yes i have fun playing, i woulden't play if i hadn't but when i see the income after 1H of play being less than a million kills the mood a bit.

Cbills are exceedingly easy to come by, especially with premium. I have 46 million plus in the bank and this is after purchasing a new module for 6 million last night.

hah, you think C-bills are the problem? Try gaining GXP without being a total layabout, playing 75 matches a day and only going outside to flag down the pizza guy because he forgot your pepperoni rolls.

The gain per match is insultingly low. I haven't unlocked a new module in 4 months. I play probably 50 matches a week.

Believe it or not but back when we had Repair and Rearm the amount of C-Bills earned was actually less than it is now.

Cbills are so easy to get I hardly ever use my Founders or Hero. Mechs, and I still haven't used any premium time.

123,604.76 cbills/match average.

Yes, they are indeed the hardest thing to get but the way i see it it's an end game thing and i don't bother with it.

I read the whole post but it mainly ends up as: the most expensive chassis in the game takes too long to buy, you only make 85k per match average.

To answer your questions: no it's not out of line with other F2P games, and it's not out of line with other games that are intended to be played on a constant basis for years, like MMOs.

Also if you paid attention, I said that was without premium time. It's also with low usage of CBill increasing mechs.

My 12 year old brother bought an atlas in 2 days of casual gaming (no marathons). Needless to say he's not the best pilot, but he managed to buy the most expensive mech in the game. There is nothing wrong with the C-Bill/ Price scale in MWO.

I get 91k per match according to the game. I don't think I've seen it change too much.

Anyways, to get c-bills.. you have to consistently deal damage to get the c-bills you deserve. If you're not fighting, you're not getting money. Even the slow grind of capping on conquest doesn't accelerate your c-bill growth that much (although, the match says I get 10k more), so if you believe the gap is wide, you better learn to shoot well or you're not getting rewarded.

There is a sale on right now for 3 days of Premium Time for 380 MC which I just happen to have lying around.

Since yesterday, in pugs that lost 70% of the time, I bought a cataphract 1X (after being broke), a 340XL engine and still have 2 million in the bank.

Best part, I'm not even halfway finished using up my 3 days.

Something to consider.

C-bill grind is only a issue if you actively monitor your gain. The best thing to do is have fun first, I know this can be a problem when you are trying to aim for a new mech or outfit your new ride with some sweet equipment but if your having fun playing the cbills will roll in on their on in due time. (That whole, a watched pot never boils deal.)

Cbills come slow but GXP comes slower.

But! if I want money and GXP without paying for it, I play an LRM boat. Get as many missiles in the air as possible and you'll see the money start rolling in.

I am with the OP for TWO reasons

eliting mechs is a necessity right now

so triple the cost of any chassis you want

and add 4.5 mil for the double heatsinks tax for 3 mechs

once you realize that the total cost to have a competitive heavy mech

is closer to the 25million mark

welllll

That can mean ether 2hours or 20hours

I have fun but having to grid for mechs i don't want and then with mechs i don't want so i can level up the mech i want kills the fun a bit.

Sounds about right. If you want to use the C-Bill for fast upgrades, you buy the mechs with MC. Don't make me remind you about the F2P model.

We just need space socialism: Take C bills away from those with billions of it and give it to the rest of us :).
