There was a lot of speculation going on and artwork and such about the Orion mech. But I haven't heard anything about it in a long time. What happened? It would fill the 75 ton heavy niche. also if not the Orion, what about the Black Knight? for the 75 tonner niche. Just wondering.

Best we have for a "reason" is this:

Completely untrue. lol. We wanted to more variety to the mech meta game, so we changed it up a bit. The order in which mechs are announced will not always be the order in which they are released.

The orion wasn't intentionally pushed back, it hasn't been replaced

i just made the orthos for the quickdraw before the orthos for the orion, really thats it

Note how Alex says "The orion wasn't intentionally pushed back"

That tells me someone screwed up somewhere, internally. Either Alex made the orthos for the wrong mech or someone gave him a schedule with a messed up order. That would explain why they haven't been upfront about the reason it was pushed back, like they were with the Flea and MASC. They screwed up and they don't want to admit it. The excuse that the Quickdraw is "meta changing" is laughable, it isn't meta changing in the least as many threads have already gone over.

Agreed. I don't think its alex's fault though. since he said he was simply given it in such an order.. (but then again i don't see how something as simple as mech order can be screwed up)

But since PGI is supposed to be 2 patches ahead. you'd think they would have known about/announced the change of plans sooner.

Could have been alot of things to be honest, none of which has anything to do with the model or art. It is entirely possible the Orion end up being OPed due to hardpoint configurations and they needed to re-evalute, change and then re-test the mech.

In any case it is definately a departure from the way they have always done things which leads me to believe that the reason they gave isn't the real reason for the switch. Personally I think it pretty obvious the the Quickdraw was a last minute quick fix rather than a planned addition.
