The Awesome was going to be my Assault mech of choice, because I liked them in the table top game.

However, I kept getting killed with less than 200 points of damage inflicted on the enemy team, and it was always to a center torso destruction. I had to stop playing them as I would do better in a medium mech like my Centurions. Since then I have bought a Highlander and am happier in that mech than the Awesome, although I don't use it often.

It is that center torso being hit too easily that is the root cause of the Awesome under performing to me.

I am hoping the other 80 ton mech, the Victor will get me to pilot an assault mech again.

It doesn't help that LRMs are viable again, and even though the CT seeking behaviour has been toned down on them, on any awesome it all just goes straight to the ct still.

Why the biggest CT hit box?

Simple... "steroid use".

Definition of Vanguard:

1: the troops moving at the head of an army

2: the forefront of an action or movement

Except the Awesome can't, because it sucks big ones in this game from multiple issues, including its 3D model, crap heatsink implementation, and less simulation aspects for PPC's.

@lightfoot never had feeling that 8q or 8r (i have "master" of those) are much more vulnerable than 9m or any stalker out there, they call for different play style (more careful) but again i've seen many and many times how overconfident stalkers and atlases got cored almost instantly disregarding theirs "smaller" or "better" hitboxes, its just the same for a player with good aim
@NRP i tried almost every weight class of mechs in this game and never ever doubted my choice of awesome-9m

not sure what's my point here, probably i trying to say that no matter how much AWS hitboxes will change, if you cant drive those now you wont be able drive them later, its not hitbox issue

no problems for 9m at least i can run up front land 1-3 shots on advancing enemy force and fall back to main force or go deeper on flank totally unscathed, yes it can go horribly wrong but usually i dealing first damage on my team

The 9M works well with the XL380, but the AWS-8 series is instantly cored right now. The 8's do well if no one ever shoots at them, so really the antithesis of "vanguard".
