I currently have a single 7970GE outputting to a 1080p60 monitor.
I intend to upgrade to Triple Crossfired 7970GE's outputting to a 4800x1080p60 eyefinity set-up.
The rest of the current set-up:
i7 3820 @ 4.3GHz
32Gb RAM @ 1600
RoG Rampage IV Extreme.
1200 Watt Coolmaster PSU
Has anybody else here got a set-up like this? If so, how well has it been performing? Have you encountered any hardware or software problems?

I believe the 3rd card is a little overkill ..I've heard about 3 monitor setups using only 1 7970GE..But It's your decision..2 cards should suffice..Also MWO does not support SLI or X-FIRE for the game..IMO you might want to get the monitors you want and see if the 7970 will do the job..I'm running the Saphire HD7950 Duel-X 3gb with boost and I've been told my one card can run 3 monitors when i overclock it..But I'm not a computer whiz, I just read a lot of different forums..Good luck with it though.

I am curious about this as well.
I heard it might be possible a single 7970(mine's MSI Lightning) to use triple monitors and decent framerate, as dual Crossfire suffers from the annoying micro-stuttering, while triple doesn't.

I'm planning on getting the third card to provide a bit of headroom for when Dx11 is enabled in game and to reduce microstutter.

I'm running in 5760x1080 on a single 7970GHz and get Framerates above 40.
If you only want to run in 4800x1080, a single card should be enough.

A single card should indeed suffice, although I made trade up your current 7970 for a 6GB model for those kinds of resolutions.
If you are going Crossfire then three is the way to go, because dual-card setups suffer microstutter while triple card setups do not.

I'm running one 7970 2gb card with three monitors but I have one 24inch monitor and two 19inch monitors so I have to run a strange resolution of 4356X900 after bezel adjustment. The game runs great though. Never a hiccup. Plus its just a huge help being able to have a view spanning across the side monitors to see people sneaking by.
AMD FX 6100 @3.3ghz
8gb ram
Radeon 7970 2gb
Win 8
Heres gameplay on that.
