Gripes with this game:
Table top based values for armor and weapon damage.
Missiles getting too much focus, not enough on AMS or effective counters.
Jump jet shaking in order to "balance" jump sniping.
Lack of proper match making, I.E. skill level system. (Apparently something is in the works?)
Lack of Third Person (Yes, I liked staring at my mech's shiny metal *** from time to time)
Too much in the way of urban maps, map recycling (Come on, night and day variants aren't new maps, they're rehashes.)
Controls are even more clunky and sluggish than the older games (Didn't think I'd dislike that, but yes, the controls are too slow)
UI and HUD aren't eye catching or simplistic, more annoying than helpful.
Lack of a single player campaign.
Lack of Instant Action.
Making me grind for 3 hours to buy one ER PPC or any piece of equipment for that matter (I miss the ability to experiment with builds without having to grind for ingame currency simply to find out if I like a weapon or not)
________
Things I do like:
Shiny explosions
Shiny graphics
Some new mechs we've never had before.
________
Conclusion:
This game is shiny, that's about it. I don't enjoy how Piranha is making it completely different from the past MW games; 1. The maps are smaller by far. 2. The lack of deathmatch is a complete disappointment. 3.The inability to make a mech the way I want, when I want without worrying about grinding for hours is immensely annoying.
I honestly want to see this game be great, I want to see it prosper, but I refuse to acknowledge that this is "MechWarrior" when so much of what made that namesake over the past 20 years is simply being cast aside and forgotten.
Let my ensuing verbal trashing by lurking man children occur, but it would be nice to actually get some responses that add to the post's topic rather than "ER MAH GERD, BAWWW" that usually occurs. Surprise me, maybe?

I heard that Mech Assault 3 is in the works. Sounds like that game will be just your type of fun.
EDIT: Or Hawken.
