VERY noticeable during current event that most Assault games I played ending cap not kills.
IF you give players a quick way to win and a deadline, then they are going to use it.

I don't like that spider running for the base and capping out before or while a great battle is going on, but it is in the rules, so not much can be done.
I am not against a TDM mode, but I doubt I would play it as hunting somone that wants to hide doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

You have a point about the light mechs. I haven't run into that problem with them, we kill them pretty fast. I would think in TDM, the final score would still produce a winner. For instance if you have 7 kills and they have 2, you win at the end of the match. Appreciate everyone's feedback.

Or time runs down faster as 'mechs are killed. Or the boundaries shrink over time. There are a massive number of ways to take care of the problem.
Right now, we have two half-way modes that please neither crowd (the CapWarriors and the idiots) instead of one for each. It makes no sense to me. Give higher rewards for "strategic" gameplay in the objective mode and let us barbarians go at it with no distractions in team deathmatch.

bases are one of many things that are currently making this game anti-fun.

The problem with having TDM is that everyone is going to run the same cheesy flavor-of-the-month assault mech. There really wouldn't be a reason to play anything else. Playing a medium or light would be pointless. In assault, you're at a disadvantage without a fast mover, and you can still lose if you aren't being mindful of protecting your base.

Assault mechs make things go splat. There's your reason. Even then, you have an advantage (Tonnage and firepower) and a disadvantage (you're slow).

Either that, or we'd watch the counter tick down to nothing and tie.
*sighs* that was a long 15 minutes of drinking.
Edit: we had a weight limit we stuck by, so we had a diversity of mechs.
