Forgive me if this is written down somewhere.

I have just started MWO.

I pick a mech and then queue up for a match.
I get put on a team that only has a couple of other people on it. Slowly, more folks are added.
Meanwhile, the opposing team is full with 8 folks from the start.
The battle starts and we get massacred nine times out of ten.

How do I get on the other team?

Is it a premium account thing?

Welcome to ELO - where you are matched with other players to make your win/loss ratio 50/50 regardless of your skill level.

And think, most other video games allow good players to actually win? This game hamstrings you so the best you can get is 50/50 (and they think it's a good idea).

I am not bitching. I am just trying to understand the rules and adjust accordingly.

Bad luck as much as anything. You should be being matched with other new players if you have less than 25 matches. Which "should" = not being steamrolled. That said, it seems apparent from several threads, that the system is not working as described.

At the moment:

Q. How Are Teams Picked?
A. With both eyes closed and with intelligence turned off.

Man it need some work.

Basically, if you win too many matches, you are considered an anomaly, and concordantly the architect sends out agents through the matrix to keep you on the losing team for a while, untill you lose too many matches and are allowed to win for a while, ergo repeating the endless cycle enslaving millions of humans to provide energy for the machines, vis a vis fate.
