i wish i could fit more AC-10 ammo on it. im trying to make a decent sniper mech without too many weapons. i prefer to keep it simple. something not as slow and lumbering as an atlas but without the limited range of movement that comes with jagermech arms.

CTF-4X
4x doesn't make a good sniper.
You can make do with 2 Gauss rifles, but the Muromets and Jagermechs do that better.
AC10 is more of a medium range brawling weapon.
You can also build the 4X with 4 AC5 for more range.

also i noticed you moved the ammo all around the mech? is that to avoid losing it all in one go? i guess i will have to weigh that up against it not being protected by CASE.
edit: 4x AC5 version http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8cedc6311c91189

The head hitbox is also quite small nowadays and usually not a problem. The head ammo drains first anyways so by the time you engage someone at closer range it should be gone.
CASE is only there to protect ammo explosions moving to the center torso, eg. you'll most likely lose the torso and the weapons anyways if you get hit there. You also lose most of your ammo in one go.
On a mech with XL engine CASE serves no purpose.
I thinned out the armor a lot from the rear which shouldn't affect a long range mech as much as a brawling one, but you still need to be aware of your surroundings when packing light armor

Dynamic structure indicates the Endo-Steel internal structure upgrade. It gives you free tonnage but takes up 14 internal slots and costs 700 000 Cbills. It's always strictly better than the Ferro-fibrous armor upgrade which frees up less tonnage.
The XL engine also saves you some weight but makes you vulnerable to destruction through your left or right torso.

POW! Optimized: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...360edcdf9bd75bc - Ammo in a torso is a no no!
AND 4 AC5 POW! Optimized: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8b3cdaa7839490f - Backup weapons and AMMO IN A TORSO IS A NO NO!!!!!
also the 4X is a good gauss platform. with a standard engine you can last forever. The funniest thing is when a mech focuses on a side torso because they think you have an XL and then it comes off and they have a double take: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...940edabf3b2f9b7
and XL gauss: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c9252d32fc300ec

Added endo steel, swapped heat sinks over to doubles, moved ammo around, got rid of CASE, added Streak launcher and a Beagle Probe.

Arm lasers: better for dealing with those pesky light mechs.
Jump Jet: for turning around faster and going up hills.
XL 325: YOU GO SO FAST IT MIGHT AS WELL BE PAINTED RED
(You could also probably fir a 280std in there if you want a std)
Bottom line: If you're only going to use 2 ballistics, might as well use the 3D.

2 Gauss Rifles with 90 Shots ( 9t Ammo )
2 Medium Lasers
XL255 Engine giving ~60kph
Endosteel
Except for Legs full Armor.
Don't bother with the Cooling Efficiency of only 38%... Even on the hottest Maps I've NEVER managed to get past 30% Heat with this configuration - Makes me wonder how these Numbers are actually calculated.
I recall only one match where I ran out of Gauss Ammo but I guess being a HOTAS Player makes you kind of more cautious where to play your Shots compared to a Mouse/KB Player ;D

I would recommend a standard engine in the 4X. It is the best "stick" mechs in the game - when it is down to a center torso, two legs, and a head, it has more firepower than any other mech. No reason to waste that, especially if you like to get in close sometimes. I started using the "Metal Salad" build, but it's a bit of a troll build. I would personally go 4xAC2 over AC5s, but that's only because I don't see the range difference of the AC5s as enough to justify 2 over a single AC10.
