I haven't had the opportunity to drop in 8's lately. With the changes to ECM, JJ, and new mechs being introduced what is being run in 8's?

I am guessing dual AC-20 Jagers, but what is a typical team comprised of?

Mostly PPC/Gauss builds on Stalkers and Highlanders supported by PPC Cicadas or cookie cutter Ravens. Dual Gauss Jager outperforms the AC/40 Jager in this enviroment. That's just my experience though.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but in "competitive" 8man, AC40 Jags are not very common. I find their reputation in PUG/4man kinda laughable, and I LIKE the design.

But it's a glass cannon that dies fast in 8 man most times.

Short range, low speed, large profile, limited ammo and XL engine.

Not the thing to face a team of 4-6 PPC Stalkers.

Do you still see the CN9-A's or did the srm nerf cut them out?

still see a fair bit of Zombies. How they ever "made the grade" is beyond me though, as Zombie Cent's have always been a joke. (Their LT dies as fast as a Hunch's RT, and without, they are nearly useless. Big whoop)

PPC stalkers, Highlander 732s, and maybe a light or 2.

Our squad (DV8) runs a mix of poptart highlanders, direct fire stalkers, poptart cataphracts, the occasional catapult, centurions, Jenners and Ravens. All of the top units run similar mechs to ours. Some will run an Atlas if they want to force brawl, some run a Cicada if they feel they need more ECM, some run a Treb for light hunting/another sniper.

Double AC20 Jagermech is a bad competitive build, as is the 4-5 AC2 Jagermech. These are only pubstar builds, or "Hail Marys."

Heh, ran into your squad tonight and it was a far cry from that!

edit: it was on frozen city so our 2 lrm boats were neutered but your team ran the same heavy ppc assault builds!

2dl edit: I asked if it was Korenease corps and they said yes, so I am going on that.

Ah, yes, the guys with LRMs. We were (trying to) sync drop against QQ Merc Corps for the grand finals of the Last Mech Standing league but got you that match. That drop was the heaviest drop weight...600-625 tons. We were running 1 Jenner (lil ole me), 2 Cataphracts, 3 Highlanders and a 2 Stalkers...(aka, exactly what I said!) 5 assaults I know, but that's what you do on a 625 ton drop.

Fine and good. We were actually trying out drops that arent all assualt ppc, we had a hard time. Also we dropped on a bad lrm map, just saying!

I don't see LRM's being all that competitive still. PPC's sure, and on a pop tart frame if you are really good at it, otherwise a stalker.

I don't know that the proposed energy changes will nerf PPC boats all that much, is anything it will just shift part of the spread to something else like 3 or 4 ppc's plus ballistics.
