Future Farmers of America mode?

'Free For All' means 'All vs All' or simply 'Deathmatch'. Well, only people who play computer games would know what FFA means, sorry.

I know what you meant; I just disagree with you. That was my way of being flippant.

Also, FWIW, I couldn't care less if they implement deathmatch or not.

I'm an advocate for objective-based missions.

Please for the love of god implement Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch modes, so that the people asking to change how Assault and/or Conquest modes work will once and for all stop!

I probably will never play DM or TDM, to be fair, because I love the dynamics of Assault and Conquest, but I don't want you to change these existing modes in the way people are asking to.

ive asked for it at least 3 times in several polls. Majority of the forum peps ended in insulting me and my idea.

Btw they are going to add new modes soon. at Least a Defend Attack- >Rush hold mode where you ll not see any base cap thing

The problem with both Assault and Conquest is that neither is taken far enough.

For example, in Assault, there is no strategic reason to spilt your mechs between offense and defense because if you split your force, you usually die horrible. This results in either a ping-pong effect of rushing forward, then rushing back to defend if someone slips behind or a flank rush and only results in a good battle if both teams chose the same flank to rush.

Conquest is kind of the same thing. You can split up and go for caps and usually die indivdually or you can move as a team and try to get to more cap points first. Again the only time there is a real battle is when both teams head to the same cap point accidently.

What they need to do is come up with scenerio play where perhaps one team defends and another assualts a single objective. Other option would be an escort where your team has to defend a convoy. Yet another would be a meeting engagement where two teams have to try to capture and hold one base in the center. There are dozens more variations of tactical and strategic scenerios that could be implemented all with the aim of getting people to actually want to fight each other to win.

Honestly I do like Assault, but some times I wish I could play team death match.

Conquest I also like a lot. I think there is enough interest to keep the three going.

I would never play this Mode but I support it being added, Only for the fact those that cry like little girls when they lose by the opposing team actually making the objective will shut up and only play DM. Which in turn should make the other modes more competative.

In the existing Assault mode I already made a suggestion that they remove the cap timer. No capping until the end of the match and at end, the team with most tonnage ON THE CAP POINT wins. Death match till then and if there is no one on cap at end of match, the team with most kills wins. KISS principal until they implement additional modes, very easy to do. Oh wait, I forgot. Cap Accelerator is a consumable, a money maker! Sorry, my bad.

I like you would probably never run in TDM or DM, personally I need more from the scenario and look forward to increased mission times and more main and side objectives. However I accept that a sizable proportion of our fellow MechWarrior's would go for TDM or DM; for that reason it needs to be included in the options.

BTW, really good Poll

As long as the deathmatch modes were setup for specific weight classes only (L M H A) then that should be fair enough. Especially a team deathmatch where you don't have to worry about capping. Deathmatch is about causing destruction! Not capping. Makes sense to differentiate the two.

Regular deathmatch makes no sense in a Mechwarrior game.

You can't effectively compete with other players in DM unless everyone runs the same mech, but this is just boring, as people will just find the best weapon combination, which will result in everyone using the same mechs and same weapon configs.

Team Deathmatch however is a good idea, since most Assault games are already played as TDM.

Assault mode needs to be changed into something which has more meaningful objectives. For example a mode with 2 phases - 1 team defends the object, and the other tries to destroy it, then both teams switch roles for 2nd round. This is how Assault worked in Unreal Tournament.

I can't see how a "death match" mode could possibly be a good thing, especially considering if it comes down to a Light vs. 1 or 2 Heavies/Assaults (or even slow Mediums) he can just run and hide (or just run if his teammates want to give away his position constantly) and drag out the match for the full time period, which just wastes everyone's time.

There are a massive number of solutions to the problem you describe. It is not a good reason to avoid implementing deathmatch.

If people don't want to play deathmatch, then that's fine. They don't have to.

But given that the game mode is TRIVIAL to implement, there's no reason NOT to.

The Solaris VII arena does exist in battletech. And it would be a good place for one on one grudge matches, and those people who like kills above everything.

But I also belive theat it should ONLY be one on one for the arena. With a very specific arena map for it, And a spectate option for others who want to watch them.

Wasn't there supposed to be a single player mode at some point? If that came to be I'd play that exclusively.

No.

They mentioned that it will be very likely in the future, but not until after CW is implemented.

So probably sometime between 2015 and 2020.

My guess is that we'll all have seen Star Wars 7 before a single player campaign is introduced.

To which the only appropriate answer is "Grow a pair, stop whining, and queue for skirmish instead", completely regardless of which team they are on.

That is the only macro I have, and the button is no longer labeled.

Solaris mod only. Light Class vs Light Class (etc) Deathmatch.

This

Also matches in different weapon classes so one can experiment a little more with builds and doesn't always have to balance against everything. Like Laser or AC on Frozen City only and so on.
Why? Because boats are good to master a certain weapon and boat-only games have a totally different dynamic from vanilla matches, the balanced matches can and should stay as they are, but many people would love some arcarde style fun and practice.

Running around with 12 Jenners, Ravens, Spiders loaded up with nothing but ML and fast engines... that would be so much fun!
