I like playing crit-seeking weapons, but crit-seeking is useless if my opponent is still armored up.

Fixed that for you.

To answer your question, whatever you can do the most DPS with (which is not quite the same as "whatever does the most DPS" since your skill with the weapon(s) matters.

I remember specing a HBK-4G that used 2 meds, 1 AC20, 2 MGs. Although that wasn't great... it would be even better when MGs aren't totally useless.

PPC's, Guass, AC20 for KERBLAMMO single area armour stripping.

High DPS weapons like AC2's, UAC5s and medium lasers are also good for stripping armour.... from the whole enemy mech as you spray dakka and emerald beams of doom all over your enemies like a demented child wielding a giant crayon.

Lasers, if you can pack enough of them together, and hold your aim on target.

If you're getting to hot, replacing an ER PPC with a PPC will also do.

If you're using a Light or medium, I don't think the above weapons will work well for you, and you might go Medium Laser instead. Drawback is the beam duration, you'll spread your damage more, and have a poorer range (even AC20 still deals 10 damage at 540m), but the other weapons just tend to be too heavy, and the ML has some of the best return on investment.

1. First strip the center torso armor using AC20, PPCs and Gauss.
2. Then, instead of seeking crits, core the enemy.
3. Profit.

Unfortunately this is still true.
It really does make the most sense to just finish the enemy off quickly with whatever big-*** weapon you used to strip the armor off.
Can't wait until crit-seeking weapons are capable of taking out Actuators and Engines. That'll make them quite useful again.

The exact reason why I purchased a 4G instead of the 4H.
My dream Hunchie.

I just keep telling myself that MGs will be useful someday. Gotta keep hope alive...

Tell PGI that the cone of fire for MGs is dumb. That's all I've got to say.

Ultra AC/5 are also nice. Basically everything which does a lot of concentrated dps.

Actually LBX autocannons may be the "best" since they will do TONS of nonlethal damage scattered all over the enemy mech.

Agreed, LBX are perfect for whoring damage numbers. Boat moar for better results before one of your teammates manages to hit the target with a real weapon.

SRMs are also a good choice with them landing all over the enemy mech and the surrounding city block. Boatable in even higher numbers than LBX
